Classy Low-Tech Speaker

So, I have to admit, this is pretty much the coolest thing I have seen all day. I really, really, really want one to set on my desk. What is it, you ask? Well, it’s basically a gramophone for your smartphone. You know, that clunky music player from the turn of the century? Except it’s tiny, more durable, made of wood and fit specifically for this cell phone. Classy, right?

This beauty was made as a gift and the recipient excitedly shot the below film demonstrating how it worked and posted it on YouTube. I’m not normally the kind to watch these kinds of things, and most certainly don’t share them, but I am impressed in spite of myself. Here’s the video:

From what I can gather from the Blaze article and the YouTube video, the beautiful wooden speaker was made in secret as a Christmas present. The woodworker in question apparently measured everyone’s cell phones so that they would fit perfectly. If it was me, I’d purchase everyone phone to fit that speaker for, like, the rest of my life. It might not be any kind of new technology, but you have to admit, it’s certainly got style!
