Verizon reading prepaid BlackBerry plans?

Verizon Wireless announced new monthly prepaid plans, we heard rumors that they’d soon be adding BlackBerry service to the offering. Over the weekend, Boy Genius Report received information that Verizon was finally ready to do just that. For an additional data fee on top of your current monthly plan, you should soon be able to add BlackBerry service to your Verizon prepaid account. While this might sound like a plus straight away, there’s a wrinkle that makes it even more interesting. As we learned in July, Verizon is currently testing a $50 unlimited talk and text plan in select markets. If it goes according to plan they’ll offer the plan nationwide, which means big savings on a major carrier. If they allow BlackBerry service with this $50 plan, you could get unlimited voice, text, and data for as little as $80 per month. That’s cheaper than postpaid service, though there are drawbacks like a more expensive handset and lesser coverage area. Still, for those looking to save some dough this could work out well. We have yet to learn all the details of Verizon’s offering, but it should come soon. The release date noted on the leaked materials was the 22nd, which was yesterday, Sunday. Could we see Verizon move on this during the week?]]>

That’s a little steep for prepaid BB from Verizon. Think I’ll go with Boost.
