Verizon gets official with $50 Unleashed unlimited plan

Verizon prepaid has been testing a $50 unlimited plan in select markets. Last month we heard that Verizon might expand the unlimited plan, and just last week we learned that indeed they would. But we never had word from Big Red themselves. But yesterday spokeswoman Brenda Raney let us know the score. On Thursday Verizon will release Unleashed on a nationwide basis. As we know, the plan costs $50 per month and covers unlimited talk, text, and web — which is right in line with AT&T GoPhone’s $50 plan. Unleashed will be available at Verizon stores, Best Buy, Walmart, and Target. You can check Verizon’s website for more details. Via MarketWatch.]]>

Unfortunately for smartphone owners, (as I directly heard from a VZW representative via telephone,) the unlimited plan for $50 only includes simple feature phones. You still have to pay in excess of $124 a month for unlimited with data if you wish to use a smartphone. I guess it just depends on individual needs.
