Alcaltel's Flagship Available for Preorder Apr. 21

Alcatel, the maker of low-cost and generally entry-level devices has announced that its latest flagship device, the Idol 3, will be available for preorder starting April 21. More details about this device were also announced, and I have to say that as someone who owns an Alcatel device, I’m pretty impressed. The Idol 3 comes in two sizes: 4.7 and 5.5, but the larger version is the only one available in at launch. There isn’t any word on when the smaller version will be released. For now, here’s what the specs for the 5.5 inch version look like:
• GSM/HSPA/LTE compatible
• Android Lollipop 5.0
• Octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 1.5 and 1.0 GHz
• 5.5 inch screen
• 2 GB RAM
• 16 GB memory
• microSD card slot, up to 128 GB
• 13 MP rear camera
• 8 MP front camera
The Idol 3 is expected to retail for $249 unlocked with no carrier specified and should ship sometime in May. The specifications indicate that it will be compatible with GSM networks, but I haven’t seen any particular notices on whether AT&T or T-Mobile intend to offer this device. You can preorder or read more about the device on Alcatel’s website.]]>
