With the massive number of prepaid MVNOs and carrier options, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of it all and even harder to compare and decide which company is the right one for you. So, every once in a while we’re going to go through and do a Face-off of two popular companies, comparing plans and services to help you better decide. Today, we’ll look at Puppy Wireless, and Page Plus Cellular. Puppy Wireless is the newer of the two, but both run on Verizon’s nationwide network. Puppy, however, has a huge range of plans and offers multiple other networks while Page Plus has some pretty competitive pricing. Here’s how they compare:

Puppy Wireless – Plans range from $5 – $55

Puppy Wireless has a huge variety of plans across multiple networks. There are both 3G and 4G options, and just about every combination you could ask for. The site is a little complex to navigate through, however, and you have to put in your zipcode to even look at the plans. Check coverage and plans here.

Page Plus – Plans range from $12 – $69.95

Page Plus has a variety of plans, most of which include unlimited text, unlimited low-speed data, limited high speed data, and unlimited talk. Many also include $10 international calling credit. View plans here.

Unlimited Talk/Text  Is it offered? What is the lowest price?

Puppy Wireless – Yes, price depends on the network. The AT&T and Sprint network offer it for $35, while the Verizon is $39.

Page Plus – Yes, $39 plan includes unlimited talk and text as well as 3 GB data.

Data Ranges  What is the most and least data available?

Puppy Wireless – Puppy has something for everything. Data ranges from as little as 50 MB to unlimited data (on the AT&T network). Prices range all over the board.

Page Plus – Data ranges from 10 MB – 10 GB high speed, with unlimited lower speeds. Prices range from $12 – $69.95

Pay-As-You-Go Rates  What are the pay-as-you-go per minute rates?

Puppy Wireless – The closest thing to a pay-as-you-go plan is a $80 yearly plan; rates are $0.015 per minute/text/MB.

Page Plus – Rates vary based on the amount of the refill; generally they range between $0.10 – $0.04 per minute.

International Calling  What options are available? What does it cost?

Puppy Wireless – International calling is available for an additional fee; it works like an old-fashioned international calling airtime card and minutes are deducted accordingly. Prices per minute vary by country.

BYOD  Can you activate your own device?

Puppy Wireless – Yes, provided the device is unlocked and eligible; SIM card is required.
