With the massive number of prepaid MVNOs and carrier options, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of it all and even harder to compare and decide which company is the right one for you. So, every once in a while we’re going to go through and do a Face-off of two popular companies, comparing plans and services to help you better decide. Today, we’ll look at Page Plus, and Boom Mobile. Page Plus is a Verizon MVNO owned by TracFone while Boom is a newer startup which offers plans through all four carriers. Here’s how they compare:

Page Plus’s plans almost all include unlimited talk, text and low speed data with varying amounts of high speed data. Several plans come with international calling options as well. View plans here.

Boom Mobile – Plans range from $20 – $45

Boom Mobile offers both prepaid and postpaid plans for private individuals and businesses. The AT&T plans are all business, while the others are for personal use. All plans include unlimited talk and text. Data options vary wildly. View plans here.

Page Plus – Yes, $39 plan includes unlimited talk and text plus 3 GB data

Boom Mobile – Yes, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint plans all offer unlimited talk and text for $20. All plans also come with 250 MB.

Data Ranges  What is the most and least data available?

Page Plus – Data ranges from 10 MB – 10 GB high speed, with unlimited lower speeds. Prices range from $12 – $69.95

Boom Mobile – Data ranges are all over the place depending on which carrier you select. The most is 7 GB from Verizon.

Pay-As-You-Go Rates  What are the pay-as-you-go per minute rates?

Page Plus – Rates improve on higher refill cards; generally rates are between $0.10 – $0.04 per minute.

Boom Mobile – N/A

International Calling  What options are available? What does it cost?

Page Plus – Several plans feature $10 international calling credit, and a Global Calling Card can be purchased as an add-on. Rates vary by country. Read more here.

Boom Mobile – There are no international calling options for individual plans. AT&T Business Plans can make international calls with add-ons, and rates are varied by the country.

Page Plus – Yes, provided the device is eligible. You’ll have to call customer service to activate your own device; it cannot be done online.
