With the massive number of prepaid MVNOs and carrier options, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of it all and even harder to compare and decide which company is the right one for you. So, every once in a while we’re going to go through and do a Face-off of two popular companies; comparing plans and services to help you better decide. Today, we’ll look at two T-Mobile MVNOs: GoSmart Mobile and Walmart Family Mobile. The two compare pretty closely, as they both run on the same network and have similar pricing. Walmart Family Mobile has quicker data speeds than GoSmart mobile, though, making that the clear front runner for those of us who need speedy internet. Here’s how they compare:

Plan Prices – Price range? What is included?

GoSmart Mobile  – Plans range from $25 – $55

GoSmart Mobile offers four plans. All of the plans include unlimited talk and text, and aside from the $25 plan, all plans include unlimited web at 3G speeds. Walmart Family Mobile  – Plans range from $25 – $50

Walmart Family Mobile also offers four plans, all of which include unlimited talk and text. While the basic plan lacks data, 4G LTE is added with a price increase. You can find Walmart Family Mobile plans here.

Unlimited Talk/Text – Is it offered? What is the lowest price?

GoSmart Mobile – Yes, the basic $25 plan consists of unlimited talk and text with no data.

Walmart Family Mobile  – Yes, $25 will get you unlimited talk and text here too.

Data Ranges – What is the most and least data available?

GoSmart Mobile – Currently, all of the data with GoSmart will be at 3G speeds unless you are browsing Facebook. With that being said, the $35 plan offers 4GB a month and the most expensive plan offers up to 20GB of data.

Walmart Family Mobile  – All of the plans, after the basic $25 one, include unlimited data. Only a portion of it would include the 4G LTE though. With the $30 plan, you are allotted 1GB of high speed data and it would increase all the way to 10GB with the most expensive $50 plan.

Pay-As-You-Go Rates – What are the pay-as-you-go per minute rates?

GoSmart Mobile – N/A – no pay as you go options available.

Walmart Family Mobile  – N/A – no pay as you go options available.

International Calling – What options are available? What does it cost?

GoSmart Mobile – While GoSmart mobile does include unlimited international texting with its plans, unlimited international calling is available for purchase for $10.

Walmart Family Mobile – Walmart Family mobile does not offer an option for unlimited international minutes, but you can see a list of rates by country here.

Activation Fees – How much do they cost?

GoSmart Mobile – No activation fee.

Walmart Family Mobile – You must purchase a starter kit prior to activation, and these start at $25. You can do that in a Walmart store or on the website.
