landline calls to Germany are free. This deal is in honor of Germany National Day and has been extended to all Germans living abroad and anyone who has friends in Germany. Call times are not limited in any way in honor of this holiday, but free calls can only be made to German landlines, not mobile phones.
In order to take advantage of this one day only offer, you have to
create an account with DeutschlandAnrufen.com and obtain a PIN number. If you’re already a customer with DeutschlandAnrufen, then you must have a minimum balance of $0.01. Opening an account is free, but to get a PIN number, you must
purchase Voice Minutes. The minimum voice minute amount is $2 but voice minutes never expire. Calls can be made through your wireless phone, computer or landline. There doesn’t seem to be a monthly fee to use the services, although they do offer a monthly plan for $9.99 if you call Germany frequently.
