GreatCall Offers Mobile Heart Monitor

GreatCall Mobile, the prepaid brand that created the popular Jitterbug has announced a new device aimed to make it easier for active aging customers to monitor their heart health. The AliveCor Heart Monitor, pictured above, will work with GreatCall’s Touch3 smartphones, allowing consumers with suspected or diagnosed heart conditions or those at risk of heart conditions to monitor their wellness. The device attaches securely to the back of a GreatCall Touch3 smartphone and measures heart rate from a user’s fingertips or by resting against the chest. The device records an electrocardiogram (ECG) which is then stored in the free AliveECG app. From there, the recordings can be shared directly with physicians or reviewed and analyzed by a U.S. board-certified cardiologist through the free AliveECG app. Reviews can take up to 30 minutes. With this device, patients can provide physicians and care providers a more complete picture of their health. The device was granted FDA clearance for its algorithm that can immediately detect if patients are experiencing atrial fibrillation, the most common form of cardiac arrhythmia. The device is compatible with most Android phones and all iOS devices and is available now for $200. For more information, or to purchase, check out their website.]]>
