Boost Mobile Adds Hotspot Plans, Netgear Hotspot

While Sprint-owned prepaid brand Boost Mobile has offered mobile hotspot plans for several months, the company did not offer any other way to get data to other devices. Well, it looks like Boost has finally stepped up with the recent announcement of its first-ever hotspot plans and a NETGEAR hotspot device which is available from Best Buy right now. The new hotspot plans are, of course, no contract and provide 4G LTE speeds for regular browsing and 3G speeds for video streaming. The first plan runs $25 per month and includes 1.5 GB of data while the second is double that at $50 per month but includes 10 GB of data. The data is only good for one month and, from what I understand, does not roll over to the next month. Use it or lose it! Currently, the only Wifi hotspot device available is the NETGEAR Fuse, an inexpensive and simple hotspot device which can simultaneously connect up to 10 devices and features a smartphone-sized rechargeable battery to provide 10 continuous hours of web surfing. The hotspot is meant to be an easy setup and requires no software to use. The NETGEAR Fuse is expected to retail for $50 and is available right now from Best Buy and is expected to be in select Boost Mobile retail locations this Friday, July 17, 2015. When consumers purchase the device, a hotspot plan will likely also need to be selected. Boost Mobile is one of Sprint’s two prepaid companies and offers three different plans for consumers starting at $35. BYOD is supported or consumers can purchase a device through Boost Mobile.
