I am on my second straight talk phone now. I have the Samsung with the slide out keyboard and love it. I did have some small problems at times, but having to only pay $30 a month is far better than the plan my ex and kids are on. They have to pay an extra charge for the data and the plan already is expensive enough!I did have a problem once where the purchase online carged my card twice but they had the credit hit my account thenext day.

If you never have to call customer service (if you do, ask for someone in the US) the phones and plans are great. I have the Samsung 451 and here in New England the reception is great on the Verizon network.
Web browsing is not great but will do in a pinch. All in all ST is the best deal out there for the price. One other thing, if you use this primarily as a phone and do not use up you 1000 calls in the first 20 days of your contract then it does not make sense to pay for the $45.00 unlimited plan.

Lots of problems in general at ST with CS, auto-refill and credit card charges. Best thing is to purchase ST phone cards online via Walmart's website (Electronics, cell phone services). It's quick-they email the PIN to you within minutes-and thus far it's been hassle free. Moreover, it saves me about a dollar. Once you have the PIN, all you need do to extend your plan is enter it on the ST website. Yes, it's one more thing I have to do each month, but I'm willing to forgo the (in)convenience of auto-refill if it saves me the bigger hassle of dealing with ST CS for 15-30 minutes every month on a billing issue.

I have had straight talk for about a year and their service is a good i have no problem. My only issue with straight talk is that they never have a decent phone that i want. But other that their service is really good

I LOVE my ST phone and service. After 10 years of ATT and their constantly increasing rates I told them to shove it and tried ST. I bought the cheapest phone in the begining just to see if it was worth it, I eventually upgraded to a slide phone and I am extremely satisfied. I travel all over my state and I never have any problems. As for customer service, I had one problem and I got on FaceBook with ST and they took care of it in a matter of minutes. I chatted directly with a ST rep who took care of the problem - FAST! I'll never be stuck under a damn contract again... and unlimited everything for 45 bucks... you can't beat that!

I do not suggest anyone to make the attempt to ever purchase this companies phones. I purchased a phone from them and it worked for a solid 30 mins.
![]()
The phone are decent, and do far the service is OK BUT their customer service sucks! I have me idea where I'm calling but it definitely isn't the United STATES and English is NOT their first language. If this company is going o stay in business they had better hire better people!

To Steve from 01/28/12:
The phones offered by "Straight Talk" that have a "C" in the model #, utilize Verizon towers. If they don't have the "C" they utilize AT&T towers (not nearly as good). If I had not had that information I would have NEVER have gone with Straight Talk.
I was not going to write a review yet, as I have only had my Samsung R355C for 3-4 months BUT I have had NO problems with ANYTHING.
Maybe just good luck...but I gave only four stars because I KNOW the customer service is staffed by those whose english is DEFINITELY is their second language!!
![]()
my st is the WORST YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR . DO NOT TALK TO THESE PEOPLE THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH SO THEY SHOULD GO HOME AND LET SOME ONE ELSE DO THEIR JOB MY WHOLE FAMILY IS SAVING UP TO CHANG SERVICES. BECAUSE THIS PLAN SUCKS.

Ever sense I switched to strait talk I have had nothing but problems with the phone and the service and there customer service department, strait talk is a waist of your money and time. ones the time on my strait talk phone runs out I will be returning to Verizon, and I will not recommend them to anyone else.

I purchased a Straight Talk smartphone for my daughter and set up auto-refill to pay for the unlimited data plan.
Three weeks ago, the data service was shut off. My daughter called them to report the internet was inaccessible, but gave up after being transferred through several non-English speaking representatives whose command of English was so poor she couldn’t understand them. She still had phone service, so she assumed they would fix the data when her service refilled.
Straight Talk sent me a notice that they were processing the credit card payment on January 21st, and notice that they had refilled the service on January 25th. My credit card statement reports the charge went through on January 23rd. However, the phone was deactivated on the 23rd.
When I called to find out why the phone wasn’t working, they said it had been shut off due to “excessive data use”. When I asked how somebody could use too much data on an unlimited plan, they refused to explain and said they had to question the user about her data use. I explained that would be difficult, considering she couldn’t use the phone, and was told the phone would not be turned back on until she called them and then hung up on me.
So, it was obvious that they had arbitrarily turned off her data service, with no notice to anyone, and then drafted money for the next month of service, knowing that they were not going to provide service. I think that’s called FRAUD.
Their customer service is absolutely horrible. Every time you call, you are transferred from one representative to another and none of them speak English well enough to carry on any semblance of a functional conversation. Frankly, I suspect this is an offshore company hiding behind a Miami address. Every person I have spoken to (bar none) talks in heavily accented Indian.
I am currently filing complaints with the FCC, the Florida State Attorney Generals Offices and the Florida Public Utilities Commission. I would recommend nobody deal with this company.

I have had ST for almost 2 years now, I have had a great experience with them, until now. I started out with a flip phone on the Verizon network and I loved it. Then I upgraded to the slider phone on the AT@T network and the coverage was kind of spotty but useable. I then upgraded again and purchased the Nokia E-71, great phone, as good if not better than my old blackberry pearl, still on the AT@T network. So this Christmas I decided to treat myself and I purchased the Samsung Galaxy Precedent thinking this was going to be great an Android powered phone on ST! Well to my horrible surprise it is on the Sprint network and is almost completely unusable. I cannot make or receive calls at home and I bounce between 1 bàr and none at work. I work and live in Hattiesburg Mississippi. My 3G connection is so slow I cannot even watch YouTube or stream music from iHeart Radio, I can barely surf the web and that's when I have decent signal strength which is rare. The phone is ok but a little misleading. It has the old Froyo Android operating system which cannot be updated to any newer Android operating system because it is limited by its processor speed, also it has an outdated ARMv6 chip which means it cannot support, or run Adobe Flash, of any kind. I have been pushing people towards ST for the past 2 years, the price for truely unlimited service is unbeatable, but what is that bargain worth if you cannot use the phone? The only thing this Samsung Galaxy has done was get me hooked on Android, that being said I will be leaving ST for an Android powered smartphone I can actually use. It will cost me more sure, but it will be worth it to be off of Sprint's network. I truely hate to leave ST but they have left me with no choice.

Personally I love straight talk and tell everyone to get it! I'm not a freekin employee either! You get what you pay for and tbh... seriously? The prices of their smart phones r enuff to get me to turn away! Their 2nd and 3rd cheapest phones are the best iv ever had and my only problem I have ever had was with customer service.. other then that I love it cuz I never lose service or drop calls!
![]()
The only good thing about Straight Talk is their price. The reception is awful, customer service representatives neither speak nor understand fluent American English. It's like the old say "you get what you pay for" or in the case, you are not getting that...you didn't pay for it. It's a great solution for short term phone access, but once you can afford to I'd advise you move on.
![]()
hell yeah these phones do really suck big time. i thought i was the olny one that was having trouble too.
![]()
Overall the service is OK. I've dealt with customer service on a few occasions over 2 or 3 years of service. I've used my LG220C extensively - I can tell you that is a great phone to get for basic use. I am looking into an LG900G right now for a less basic phone model. Obviously that will remove me from verizon's network and put me on AT&T's GSM network.
I suspect many people are having the most problems porting numbers. I encouraged my girlfriend to switch her service to ST unlimited. Essentially she was using Verizon prepaid so the port process involved contacting Verizon to release the number and then contacting straight talk and waiting about a day for the number to actually be ported. It is an involved procedure.
On my end though I bought my LG phone at WalMart. I bought a service card, took the phone home and activated it. Took me about 7 minutes to get full service.
About 6 months into my service I was working on a Jeep and my phone was in my pocket when I dropped something heavy accross my lap. Called customer service about the crack in my phone's screen. I didn't go into too much detail and they gave me a new phone free of charge. I lost 3 days of service which I didn't feel like arguing over and I lost my custom ringtones which I just never replaced. Honestly I was grateful that they gave me a new phone with so few questions.
Often times with customer service you reap what you sow. I work in retail management and while I find that I do try to make all customers as happy as I can, some customers definitely make it easier for me to try harder than others.
So overall, 3 or 4 stars. It's a good service with some limitations. Customer service has never been bad to me, the price point is excellent and the CDMA service (any phone ending in a "C" on its model designation) is excellent. Most people seem to have problems with the GSM service and number porting.

I have had this POS straight talk crap for about 2 hours and I already hate it.
![]()
WORST customer service ever!! Good service and phones though. But If I could rate this ZERO stars I would. Tried to purchase minutes online...declined my card (I have MORE than enough $$ on it). It charged my card TWICE for minutes I never received! Called to get it released and a fax was supposedly sent over to my bank...they never got a fax...I was told the money would be automatically released back within 3 days (NOW 5 days later and nothing). I had to have my BANK manually release the funds. NEVER buy anything from them online...they will take your money...leave you with NOTHING! ALWAYS purchase at the store!! OH and these people need to learn ENGLISH...I could never understand the people talking to me.

DO NOT BUY THESE PHONES!!!!!!!!!!! I bought 2 SamsungT528g Touchscreen smart phones paid almost $300 for the 2 phones and 2 phone cards didn't have the phone 2 months and all of a sudden internal errors on both phones then it took over a week to send the phones in a get them back. we were promised our new phones would have our # already in them & ready to go with 2 months free service for our troubles. After getting the new phone NOTHING was done so I called back was on the phone another 2 hours with NON ENGLISH speaking ppl who I could barely understand. They gave me a full 4 & 1/2 days of service for my troubles and for my spending of almost #300.. WHT is wrong with this company?? I get a new phone back & the battery got sooo hot it almost burnt my leg. Now I have to call these ppl back & waste more time & efforts for a phone. My Child has MEDICAL Needs I can't afford to go without a phone!! Maybe I should go back to BOOST Mobile bc @ least they gave loyal customers free months of service for staying with them & keeping their services. STRAIGHT TALK DID NOTHING FOR ME BUT GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND & A BIG HEADACHE!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!!!!
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!!!!
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!!!!
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!!!!
I cant say it enuough

Phone would not work! Hours on the phone and several excuses why. Finally no service and asked to return the phone. After spending an hour on the phone I got a return number only to find out I have to pay the shipping. This company really sucks!!!!!!!!!!!

The new straight talk android is the worst phone i ever owned. The service is mostly unavailable and i would rather get the non andriod phone sold by straight talk....bottom line is dont waste your money on their straight talk phone .... need to know how to get my money back.
![]()
Spent four hours with customer support trying to activate two new phones only to be redirected and put on hold multiple times. Even if your broke, there's no sense in paying for a cheap plan on terrible network.
![]()
Unfortunately I cannot rate the phone srvice because their customer service was so bad that they were never able to active the phone. They insisted that my account number to port my previous number was incorrect, as I was looking at the statement. I contact my service provider and they verified that the acct. number was correct. I called back and they continued to insist that I had the wrong account number and refused to repeat the number they had documented.

I had used Straight Talk initially with a regular cell and was extremely happy with my service, coverage and phone. I updated to the Android Smartphone when it came out thinking I would enjoy the same service and coverage. The phone itself is fine but the coverage is nowhere near the previous coverage. I discovered afterwards the huge decrease in service area with the smartphone since the coverage went from Verizon to Sprint. I have no sense of security since I have no coverage in the areas I am most vulnerable to car trouble, etc. When visiting relatives, I am totally out of service. If I had known the change in coverage, I would definitely not chosen to go with Straigh talk for a smart phone!!!!

This rating goes primarily for this site. The questions are:
(1) Is Straight Talk available as a GSM service or a CDMA service?
(2) What is the speed of the "Mobile Web"? Is it EDGE, or 3G or what? Of the reviews I have read, none speak of this?
Right, it is cheap, but what is being offered? I have had my service with all the mega cellphone companies and am wondering what I would be getting into. Right now, all cellphone in my home are unlocked GSM phones. Does ST offer SIM card plans or....? Come on guys, there have been other "Unlimited" plans at around $40/month with no contract for a long time now. What makes this different? Can I use my GSM phones, or am I required to buy new phones? I don't mind low speeds of Edge, but what is the reliability of this network. Please be good enough to answer my questions.

the only reason i didnt give them 5 stars is because everytime u call customer service its extremely hard to understand the tech on the line.. other than that.. I LOVE my nokia e71 phone. gps. networking. unlimited web browsing. calls and txt!

I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. Straight Talk is the worst company around. Even at $45 a month, the savings aren't worth the hassle they give you. This company can't get anything right. I know 4 other people, who HAD Straight Talk and they had a ton of problems with them-from not being able to port their old number over, to activating their phones, to renewing their minutes. I've also had many of these same problems with them. Their website never works correctly and when you call their joke of a customer service line, which I have numerous times, they can't fix it. Then, ask for a supervisor, then you get hung up on. I don't know how this company stays in business. I personally lost $90 from Straight Talk and am sending a complaint letter and e-mail to the Better Business Bureau and the Florida Attorney General. Do not go with Straight Talk, it never works right, ever. It's obvious the people on here who give positive feedback either work for the company or are paid to give a good review. I highly encourage anybody on here that had problems with them, their website, or have lost money due to their incompetence, contact the Better Business Bureau and Florida Attorney General to let them know. This company needs a wake up call.

ST is great. The only fallback I've had is the few times I've had to call customer service, mostly for original set-up. I had a very hard time understanding the "help desk" operators. Even when I asked for a supervisor, I had the same problem.
Overall, once you get it going it is great. Now, if I can just get an Android in my area of Indiana, I'll really be happy!
Thanks, StraighT Talk!

The straighttalk phones and customer service are horrible! The phones never work. First issue with the phone, can't hear a thing and even with the volume adjusted still can not hear a thing! Second issue, texting, OMG every single time I need to text this piece of crap is stuck on T9 I have to switch it over ot english or regular texting. Third issue the customer service sux. Paying my bill every month is a huge process. Because of the process to get the bill paid, I had to get auto refill which worked out fine until I had to switch credit cards! OMG, first call to change the credit card I was told that I had to wait 24 hours to give a new credit card to be billed. When I explained that I had no money on the old card, I was told that nothing could be done about that and I could just eat the 25.00 over draft fee! I insisted upon talking to a supervisor and that dumb bitch told me that in order for her to switch the credit card number she had to have the serial number of my phone! Finally she agreed to unenroll me from auto refil but refused to switch my card number to be billed! So I had to call back and finally I got the new card enrolled for auto refill and the phone is straight again! The customer service sux a bunch of very stupid non english speaking lazy people! I can not wrap my mind around why the first rep could not unenroll me in auto refill and re enroll me with the new credit card number! I agree with everyone else i would not give one star but there is not another option! I would not even give them half a star! I have had several phones from this crapy company and all the phones suck.

I wasted 6 hours of my Verizon Cell minutes with Customer Service before I could get somebody that would help me. Or that I could understand. I think they are all Indians. They don't deserve to be called Customer Service Reps. I think they would be good at washing Elephants. The only way I got through to a person that could help me was telling them that I was also on BBB's web sight. Witch I was, and had the form about 80% filled out.
MY Problem: I ordered my phone and service plan online. First thing they ask you is your Zip code. What a joke! They don't use it! They sold me a Nokia E71-2. Problem is it only works with AT&T. I had no coverage. They were trying to convince me to drive 10 miles to see if I had coverage so that they could screw me even more than they already had. I've lived in this county for 50 years and helped pioneer the cell phone technology. Yea, us Amateur Radio Electronic Nerds did that 35 years ago. I n order to get AT&T coverage I would have to drive 60 miles to Dayton, OH. So why did they sell me this phone? To get my $100. is all. They now telling me that they are going to send me a different phone. Here is the catch: I must return the old phone first and they have to receive it before they will ship me a new one. In other words they will have had my money for 3 weeks or more before I get a different phone. Some Customer trust! I don't trust them any further than I can throw them. Especially after one Customer Service Woman told me that they would refund my money! And they don't have to. The nerve of some people, that's why I went to the BBB's sight. AND NOW THE REST OF THE STORY: They are sending me a reconditioned LG511C. It only has half the features that the Nokia E71-2 has. Reading reviews of the LG511C all the blogs say that they it is way overpriced for the features. Got screwed again!! I'm going to finish my online complaint. I suggest that everybody go to BBB instead of getting a "ticket" from Customer Service. The the only thing Customer Service has is a lot of patience to keep feeding you a bunch of bull. PS: If I could give them 0 stars I would.

I have been with S.T. for about 3 years & am quite satisfied as I am on Verizon's network. My dealings with their cust svce ranged from nightmarish to decent. I would like to get a smart phone to replace my R451C but would have to leave the Verizon network which I am unwilling to do. Bottom line; Great phone & next service with minimal interner for $45/mo. I can live with that.

Bought the flip phone, works great, battery last a really long time and even has a radio. Internet is a little lame and slow and complicated but not important to me except as a backup. I will keep it but not as my primary phone. I am retired and spent a week researching and found no way to transfer my contacts to the phone. Very small phone and quite reliable in Chicago area.

Couldnt connect to facebook and other sites. Cant send or recieve pictures. No help from tec support.

I AM JUST OUTRAGED AND I KNOW OTHERS WILL AGREE..A WHOLE 24 HOURS WITHOUT A PHONE AND I KNOW SOME HAVE SUFFERED FAR MORE. I GUESS I WILL BE SWITCHING BACK..CANT DEAL WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I have been using Straight talk for a while now. Pleased with the phone as well as customer service. For those of you with serious complaints, just switch to a contract carrier. Then you get to pay, $100 plus a month and have the same complaints. $500.00 a year total for my cell phone bill. I get great reception. Kudos to you Straight Talk. Maybe you need to check the service area you are in and decide which network is best for your main area. Also don't buy cheap phones expecting stellar service. What more can you ask from a phone for $30 a month, NO CONTRACT.
![]()
I use Page Plus and, while it is not unlimited data, for 55.00 per month you get 500MB at 3G speeds which is faster than Straight Talk. You can bring your own device to Page Plus and you speak with customer service here in America. You support American jobs.

Im about in tears. I have been trying to activate my phone for over 4 hrs now. I keep going rouns and rounf with promotin b.s and asking again and again for my credit card # I really dont know what to do! I dont think Ive EVER encountered such horribly RUDE "techs" in my life!! Im seriously enraged at the moment!

I've used straight talk consecutively since July 2010 and I like it. My LG does shut off if I slide it half-way by accident, but the music alerts me it's shutting off so I'm well aware. The battery life is really great, at least 16 hours regular usage before it requests a charge. ($70) I rarely use the customer service. Like most modern services, it's tele-prompted by people over-seas. That alone makes some Amerian's spaz out. 411 is loaded with ad's and FB wont work, but I'd rather not use my teany phone for that anyway. I can tell you that Straight talk text speed is way faster and service is available in places where Verizon and TMobile are OOSA (Limestone, Me and the boonies of NC and Va). I let ST give me a phone number - Occasionally, my incoming calls will go to a landline with the same 7-digit number but a different area code. Thankfully, the old man who answers is not mistaken as being me...at least not often.
![]()
To TeaintheD-Yeah, anytime you pay money for a service, even if it's for only $45 a month, you should get decent service, and you don't even get that. People who are complaining aren't asking for stellar service, just good, decent service, and this company does not provide it in any sense.
![]()
I too would put 0 stars if allowed! I have been using this Samsung slide phone for several months..it sucks! The memory stays full and the service is terrible as far as reception, lost calls and texts..cant get onling because it times out before I can log on..as far as the 45 a month for unlimited service, that's all good but when you cant use that service what good is it?..It's not a user friendly phone and needs much work..very antiquated and for all the people that have had great luck with straight talk I'm very happy for you..just stating my opinion because I have nothing positive to say about my experience with it..had much better luck with a little 15 dollar verizon pre-paid from wal mart by far!! I have one of both and the cheaper verizon pre paid is much better for me and I am getting ready to throw the more expensive straigh talk out the nearest window! Thanks!
![]()
The service is great for the price. I have had cricket, MPS, and Pageplus, so far the only company to offer Internet, text, and unlimited calls without hassle has been Straight Talk. As for the people complaining, do you really expect sterling service for $45 a month??
![]()
Straight Talk is the worst prepaid phone company out there. Their service is horrible. None of the customer service reps speak good or understandable English, the features on their website never work because I've tried to port my number over twice and now thanks to these people, it's lost for good. You can never renew minutes because it says the activation goes through, then you try to use your phone and it says you need to add minutes. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio and the service here is awful. I constantly get dropped calls, poor voice quality, low reception, text and voice messages that don't come through, etc. I could go on. Throw in the bad service from Straight Talk and the wonderful AT&T 3G Wireless network, and you get a horrible experience.
![]()
I just got my new straight talk cell phone and my husband has ha his for 2 weeks. He has had no service issues and one crept up for me as I began activation on mine.
My old cell # was accidentally not ported as a result of a family member's error one who was helping me.
I called the Straight Talk service line at 7:45pm est. and within 20 minutes they had deactivated the number I did not want and began the port process for my old line.
I was talking obviously to a foreign service center, but they spoke VERY understandable English, I was NEVER transferred, and the same person handled my entire call.
I for one am pleased.

I've been with Straight Talk for over a year. The Nokia E71 using the AT&T network. The issues I've had were at the beginning with activating my service with an assigned phone number just to test it out. After coming to the conclusion the service seems to be be good, I went to port my existing number, big headache. Once a ST sim card has been assigned a phone number, its done, they will need to send you a new one. I went through 4 sim cards because each and everyone sent for whatever reason was not able to program for my area, and finally was fed up and took the phone back to Wal-Mart for and exchange. With the new phone I requested the porting of my old number and it took about 15 minutes and has been working great ever since. So my advice is port your number immediately before an assigned number is given to the phone/sim. Other than that the service has been great, the E71 does have 1 major flaw, after a while you'll begin getting the notorious "Phone memory low or out" Most people are going to comment "Delete stuff" but in actuality its a Firmware issue and even with deleting any and everything the message will still come back. Do your research. Good luck

I bought my straight talk phone for the fact that it is cheaper than paying $100 a month for a phone bill.I don't know why people are complaining about the service. The service is just as good as any other cellphone service.Guess it just depends on the phone you pick out from straight talk weather or not you like straight talk

I have had Straight Talk for about 3 years now and plan on sticking with it. I have had 4 differnt phones only because I wanted to upgrade. The first being a flip phone. The second being a R451C. They both worked perfectly. I wanted to upgrade to a Smart Phone so without realizing that the Androids were on the Sprint network, I bought one. Sprint is terrible in my area. I called Straight Talk CS and when I was told that the phone was on the Sprint Network, I said no wonder. They sent me a return authorization and I sent it back. They said it could take a few weeks for the credit but I had it in a week. I then bought a Nokia E5 and I love it. It is on the AT&T netowrk which is not as good in my area as the Verizon network but as of yet, Straight talk does not have a Smart Phone that runs on the Verizon network. I have been told that the reason why is because Verizon doesn't want to give the right to Straight Talk for Smart Phone coverage. They are afraid that they will lose too many customers to Straight Talk. Jusr realize when you buy a Straight talk phone that depending on the phone, they can run on Sprint, AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile. Make sure which one works in your area and all areas you will be using it. Having said all that, yes, customer service is a joke. Worst I have even used. If you do have a problem, get ready for the worst headache you have ever had. They will make you glad that you are not near enough to grab them by the neck and get arrested. I have been lucky and have not had that many problems so have not had to use CS often. I gave them 3 star rating only due to the awful CS. otherwise they would get a 5 for the service and a 1 for the Customer service.

4 calls due to spotty signal...had to repeat my story 17 times ( really 17 times). Language barrier issues with all their support personnel. 25 minutes on hold. Horrible customer support and still waiting to have my problem solved.

Had to mail in a defective phone after only a few months of use. Then I had an issue with the $30 disabling my phone and nothing has been done by the tech team. I was screwed out of $30. Terrible customer service. Don't waste your time!
