I think their service is Terffic. all the other phone companpies out there rip you off, Sprint, Verizon, ATT. If you want to pay over $80 a month and you not even use your minutes go ahead. How can you beat 1,000 mins, 1,000 texts for $30 a month? You cant. I have a phone from them and been using it for 3 years. I just get a card every month and upload on my comp or refill on phone. Funny How people can complain about the smallest things today.

Great I've used them for 7 monhts now great sieves and costermer serves well worth it

I purchased a Nokia E71 phone from Walmart, along with a no-contract unlimited $45 plan from Straight Talk. Phone has been great but Straight Talk's customer service this far has been the worst I have experienced in over thirty years. I have spent over two hours during three phone calls, trying to get my phone reactivated; as of February 23, 2012, I'm still waIting. It has been a nightmare!!! Walmart should be ashamed of themselves for being affiliated with this company!

I have been fighting with straight talk about a defaulted I got a nd they want me to send it back before they send me a replacement phone and I don't think I should go with out a phone when it's there fault they put a defaulted phone in stores this is the second one I got the first one they told me to return to Walmart and I got another defaulted one I just don't think it is right

Straight Talk uses the AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint Networks depending on which phone you have. I have the 3G Nokia E5 phone. The phone itself is great, but the AT&T Wireless network that Straight Talk uses is terrible. I get a bunch of dropped calls, terrible voice quality where you hear crackling, and interference, voice and text messages that don't come through, very slow internet, and poor reception. Straight Talk should use T-Mobile's network, it is a lot more reliable and stable.

Avoid Straight Talk like nothing else. This company is a major scam and I am out $100 thanks to them. Their website DOES NOT work-I tried porting my number over and activating my phone with the unlimited plan, none of it worked. I called their joke of a customer service line, not one person could help me, let alone speak English. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was hung up on. Not once, but twice. I don't care if they only charge $45 a month for "service," it shouldn't matter-a company should still provide good service. The savings are not worth the hassle of all of the problems you have when switching to them. With Straight Talk, you get what you pay for.
![]()
customer service is awful, they barely speak english, just try to get a refund with this company, pretty much impossible
its like giving this company charity.

I have one of the cheap phones for straight talk, I wasn't going to shell out big bucks and watch it not work! I have had NO issues with customer service (yeah their speech sucks, but pretty much ANY customer service is that way now a days!) the website as always worked for me. I would NEVER do auto refill on any bill let alone cell phone. I don't trust anyone with my bank ifo (that's just stupid!) I am going to be uprading to one of their 'smart' phones. You have to do alot a research on the phones and the area you will be using it. If you don't, don't be surprised when you have issues. Every cellphone company has their share of problems, and I have many less problems with ST, than with ANY other carrier; and I have had EVERY one of them! You can't expect a prepaid company based out of a retail store to compete with big name companies, common people, use your heads!

I purchased a st phone wanting to save money on phone service. The old saying that you get what you pay for is very true. The phone had issues with cutting off or rebooting while making or recieving calls so I called customer no service and they agreed to send me a new phone. What I recieved was a fedex package to send defective phone in and wait for new one leaving me phoneless for a week or more.I purchased a new phone called and activated the new one to find that the time I had left on my service contract was lost. Customer no service was no help at all so I have nothing good to say about straight talk.
![]()
i like the price and not having a contract. but customer service is sorry.i had my phone less than a month it broke and they expecte to send it back then they will replace it when they get it back.so i bought another one .been trying to get my number transfered for almost 24hrs and itstill not working.we get good signal in the areas we couldnt with sprint.

Straight Talk is a straight joke. I have had so many problems with this company-from activating my phone to the service to the renewal of minutes. I tried making it easier by using their website. Well, forget that-their website doesn't work right. Plus, my old cell number was lost when trying to port it over. I am very disappointed with their service. Whatever you do, go with another provider-you will be a lot happier. Believe me, the savings just aren't worth the hassle they give you and problems you have.

Unlimited is NOT unlimited. Look under terms and conditions # 6 read carefully. I had automatic withdrawal, they took my money and then permanently deactivated my son's phone. After an hour and a half on the phone they still would not give my money back. However, the suggestion was to buy a new phone and they would put the money the they shouldn't have taken at apply to the new phone I would have to buy. WTF!

I switched from my contract phone service to Straght Talk, because I wanted to upgrade to a smartphone without paying those expensive smartphone prices, and I wanted to cut my cell phone bill in half (I was paying $80 a month for a MESSAGING PHONE!!!). After much research on the different phones ST had available at the time, I settled on the Nokia E71. I was in luck; I managed to purchase a refurbished model on the website, along with the starter package (SIM and $45 service card) for less that $100. After about a week of setting up and getting used to the phone (there is a phone manual for each model listed on ST's website; there are also manuals listed for the respective models on the phone's website (NOKIA); I downloaded both to make sure I didn't miss anything), I must say that I am very pleased with the phone and the service. What I like about ST is that they have THREE internet access points (Browser, Internet and Multimedia). If one isn't working or running slow, then just switch to one of the others, and you should be good to go. Of course, I use my home hotspot and wi-fi abroad whenever it is available. I wasn't too thrilled with ST's OVI maps (I downloaded Google Maps, which is easier for me to use, and always gets My Location right the first time). But this phone has INTERNET RADIO!!! I have access to THOUSANDS of radio stations ALL OVER THE WORLD!!! Love that feature! Okay, what else? The apps are so-so, the web pages load fairly quickly, the pages themselves are sharp, colorful and easy to read, my calls come in clear and crisp. I can check my e-mail (the e-mail set-up worked fairly well, once I had gotten used to it), and personalize my home and work pages. I can also use the music I uploaded to my phone for ringtones. No need to make a ringtone, then send them to my phone to use, like I had to with my messaging phone. No threaded texting, but texting is a joy with the full QWERTY keyboard on the front of the phone. I was very disappointed that I wasn't able to port the cell number that I had for over 2 years. I also had to deal with my carrier on my own by ending my service with them. Yes, the customer service needs A LOT of work. But I don't blame them. The company is making promises that they cannot keep in order to attract customers, so it isn't the poor Indian operator's fault. So let's chill out people, OK? Anywhoo, I can count the number of people who actually call me on my cell phone on the palm of my hand, so I just decided to eat humble pie and lose the number, and send a mass e-mail to my six contacts (that aren't family members, LOL) telling them to update my cell number. This is my first smartphone, and to have all these features and otherwise great service for only $45 a month (even less if you go with their 3 month, six month, or yearly plans) is the deal of the century! Thanks, and I hope you will appreciate your ST service more after reading my review!

I've never written a review on ANYTHING, but I have to on this. I LOVE straight talk! I was just shopping for a new phone because my $50 refurbished smart phone broke. I figured I got what I paid for so I didn't complain, but then while shopping realized they have a FREE 1year warranty on all of their phones...EVEN refurbished ones! So I called and sure enough they are mailing me a new phone! Craziness! My last company, the biggest in the US that starts with a "V", charged $8/mo for their warranty, and then $100 to replace my phone. When I didn't have the $ for that when I called them, I called a month later to replace the phone and they said they wouldn't do it because I told them it broke a month before. =0 Even for $100 plus almost a year of paying $8/month for their "warranty". I will NEVER use a big contract company again. I pay $45/month, no surprises... unlimited EVERYTHING. Works like a CHARM. I just got back from a long road trip and never had any problems with reception whatsoever. Yes, customer service is awful as far as broken english and repeating things a million times goes.... but they're nice, so be nice and suck it up cuz my hour on the line with a nice indian man was way better than the 4 hours I spent arguing with "V" with a rude american one and getting nothing for my warranty I spent good money on.

I AM A FOUR YEAR CUSTOMER. STRAIT TALK HAS REPLACED A PHONE FOR ME AND HELPED ME TRANSFER MY ACCOUNT AFTER THE DOG CHEWED MY CHARGER AND PHONE. THIS IS MY ONLY PHONE. THANK YOU

My wife and I have had ST for over a year. We have had most of the probs listed here and it took much time on hold and talking to customer service (in India) but probs got resolved. The price is fantastic and the coverage is unbeatable. Uses verizon and sprint networks. rarely (6 times) get dropped. Avoid customer service if poss. If not then be nice, patient (expect 2+ hrs with cust serv), and apprecietive (it's about getting what YOU want so suck it up and be NICE). I do have probs being patient and I've been known to cuss, but I have found that sucking it up and applying above recipe (add persistants) works pretty well. sum up: customer service sucks, coverage unbeatable, pricepoint none better at this time.

Just want to say, I love my straight talk phone service. I live in a wooded area, most of my neighbors in my complex I see outside on their phones to get good reception, not me and I do not have dropped calls.
My visitors are not able to receive calls at my place I am. I enjoy all of the features of my phone, unlimited long distance, texting, and the World Wide Web. I could not ask for more.
When I've traveled a radius of 200-300 miles from home no problem with reception. Thanks straight talk for bringing such a product to the market.

Poorest customer service in the world!!!!!!!!!-run for the hills-Beware-not worth the hassle for the price-the multi-media didnt work for over 1 year-and the apps dont work either

I have Straightalk for 7 months now and just love it. I pay as I go and don't have to worry about any long term commitments. As for customer service I had get service when ever I have had to call in.

very poor service when you have a problem. girlfriend was double billed. twice i was promiced refund within 24 hours. now being told they don't have all the info to process the refund. hold time sofar on the 2 of 3 calls that i tracked is in excess of 78 minutes. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I have the R355c and it works great so far. Want to let people know how to transfer their phone #'s to their new phone. Use bluetooth if you have it on old phone and new one. go to u tube. I was able to transfer all of mine. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCHWEwDiAtw I used this link to transfer all mine. had to play with both of my phones but I am a woman and I am proud to say I figured it out. Hope it helps you.

Worst customer service ever. I set-up an automatic payment using my credit card so that I would not have to call and reactivate my phones each month and they ended up over charging me an extra month. Tried to get them to credit my card and even got a confirmation number from them, however they never credited my account. Therefore, I had my credit card charge the overcharge back. Then they cancelled by service! Forget about talking to anyone at customer service to resovlve any issues. It is like talking to robots. They do not listen or understand (foreigners) what you are saying and are unable to resolve any problems. What a nightmare! Maybe a class actiion suit is necessary.

Straight talk smart phones are not the best phones out nor the easiest to use, but the sim cards are great!!!! I'm using the micro sim card with my iPhone 4S 64GB and I'm in love!!!! I would be paying $125 dollars before all the fee's with this same service alone!!!!!!!! I get to use my siri and gps and talk all I want without having to worry ifit is a cell and what network they are on or what time it is and surf the internet without having to worry about data usage!!! I'm in LOVE!! I think people are CRAZY for staying with a contract phone!!! I work for a cell phone company and see the crazy bills everyday!! Don't know why people would do that to themselves. I'm taking advantage of this unlimited $45 plan offer why I can!! You can't beat that NOWHERE!!! I can also use my mini sim card for my Galaxy S II skyrocket and my mini sim card for my Galaxy Tablet!!! Straight Talk is the best!! Roaming on sprint and verizon network, you can't beat it!!!!! :-)

0 stars My phone arrived a few days ago and it hasn't worked since. It's tech after tech. 4 hrs 9 techs who all want to start from the beginning. I am not getting anywhere with these stupid sob. I am wondering if it will ever work. This is a nightmare and just getting worse. Right now it's been another 30 mins and they want to connect me to the dept I should have been connected with. They will want to start all over again. I even have a reference number from yesterday when they said they were going to put a ticket in and it would take from 5 to 24 hrs. Yes I am on the phone with them right now. Waiting waiting and more waiting just for them to do nothing. I now wish I would have stayed with net10 as I never had a problem with them. I just wanted this phone. I'm done here my brain is going to explode.

I just got a ST phone and have had no problems so far. My decision to buy this phone is to save money on my monthly phone bill which was $60.00 a month with taxes. I'm not worried about the texting since I don't usually text anyways.
![]()
Switching to straight talk was the worst cell phone decision of my life. I ordered two phones and transferred my number. Neither phone worked properly. I've spent 5 hours on the phone trying to get them to work. It has been a nightmare. Now, one phone is working, but the other is still not working properly. After talking to perhaps ten people (all in India judging from the accents) I was told to wait 72 hours because they have a third party tech company who handles it and they have 72 hours to respond.
Beyond all that, I don't get good reception in my own house.

quality of phones regardless of price is terrible. breaks or start having problems less that even 6 months. customer service doesnt even deserve a 1 star rating. non existant. been trying to get a 4th phone replacement for my daughter since 1 st part of february. keep getting a memorize spill with another 3 to 5 days added on to get the replacement phone. they suck

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I bought a new "smart phone" that couldn't send or receive text messages. I mailed the phone back one day after I received it, five days later I still hadn't received my refund. I called and spent over 40 minutes on the phone so they could "gather information". They had no idea where my info was, where the package was, or why I sent it to the only address listed on the receipt. WOW!
![]()
I received a call from a young man who had a straight talk account set up by straight talk. Straight talk set the up account using my personal information. The gentleman was nice enough to call me and notify me with this info. I called straight talk, talked to four different people, one being a supervisor by the name of Christine who assured me this was taken care of. I not believing this, called back, spoke to a rep who told me this had not been taken care of...how crazy!!! This man knew my name, dob, address the whole nine yards. The scary part was straight talk had all his security info under my number so when I called to get assistance, you got it.....I had no clue what his answers were. I am due to renew my straight talk tomorrow......I will not. I am calling corporate, the BBB and hopefully someone will go else where. I know horror stories exist, but straight talk, straight lied to me.....find another carrier.

After three (3) calls to customer service, one was able to provide me with the information I understood and was able to assist me with a replacement phone (the one I got did not work in my work zip code) and assurance I could port my phone number (the 2nd person suggested reactivating and assigning a new number in my work zip code).

Honestly, I have had ST for a couple years now, purchased my first phone when I lived in Cali and now I live in IN. If you have little to no patience then Customer Service will be a nightmare for you. I, on the other hand, have plenty of patience. They may not speak English well but they get the job done and are very polite about it. They do try! I was once going to switch a number that required a new SIM card and they literally had that card at my doorstep 2 days later free of charge. The coverage is amazing, I can count on one hand the number of dropped calls or shotty service spots I have had since I have had ST. The plans are awesome, 45 bux unlimited everything. Now, I do want to upgrade to one of their smart phones so I am in that process now and trying to pick the best one. Otherwise, overall great experience with the phones and the company!

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, do business with this company, you will regret it. We need to get a class action lawsuit going against them. Since the "de-regulation" of the communications industry, its basically "buyer beware" and there is no one watching out for these crooks. We got two phones from Straight Talk, they wouldnt work right, so we got an address to ship them back to, received verification from Straight Talk that they were received and proof from the post office. Fast forward six months - we are STILL trying to get a refund for those phones!! First they kept telling me a refund was coming, then they told me they had already credited my "account", now they are telling me WAL MART gave me a refund!!! Can you believe this? How in the hell would they even know if Wal Mart gave me a refund? I didnt get the phones from Wal Mart to begin with, ordered them online, shipped them back to Straight Talk. Thats problem number one, Problem number two, I noticed another person menion this as well - they STEAL your minutes!! They are telling us every month that we are OUT of minutes, when I know I have at least 200 left - how do I know? I re-set the call timer on my phone every single time I load the 1000 minute card in. They are crooks!! Issue number 3 - They have some kind of voice message that literally cuts off our phone conversations just to tell us how many minutes we have left!!! Can you believe this?? I have talked to those idiot Asians they call customer service so many times, I cant even talk to them one more time. They have lied repeatedly to us about everything and I am seriously considering filing a complain with the FCC now. I dont understand how anybody could possibly give this company a rating over one star. They are probably doing it themselves. Stay far away from this company - they are a subsidiary of "Tracfone" FYI.
![]()
Okay, this is how it is.. If you want phone service for internet or a fancy phone, do NOT get ST.. If you're looking for basic cell service at a basic price, this is for you. Don't expect anything fancy when it's bargain-style and prepaid. That's the main mistake I see people make.. If you want a bit more, go to something like MetroPCS(which is what I had for years), but seeing as I don't use my cell that much anymore, I switched to the 30$ plan.. It gets the job done.. Do the refills and what-not yourself.. Avoid CS unless you absolutely have to.. They suck, and you will want to pull some teeth.
Bottom line, if you're cheap and just need something to get the job done, go for it.. Otherwise, no.

Awful customer service. The reps barely speak english. Generally have to talk to three people to resolve any issue, no matter how simple. I finally gave up.
Good plan, worse service ever!!!

S,T,Simply is a very Cheap Make,Ive been through 4 phones. This last one was bought for X-Mas,And they tell me it needs a new sims card. The previouse phone, had to be shipped back to the company,(after they ship you a Fed-Ex bag)Then you wait a week and a half to get it back, and it goes out again after a month. The company should shut its doors, the lemon law should apply,S.T. it trash

Actually had to start praying during so called customer service. Refilled min's & sim card was deleted, was told to repurchase card HUH! in order to fix problem. Then after speaking to 2 reps who told me i needed a new sim card, was finally told they were unable to process and would have supvsr call me back...hello my phone doesn't work...Hence my prayer....God help me...please don't purchase this service
![]()
I have nothing good to say about Straight Talk. They are awful. It's obvious that none of the people who wrote positive reviews on here have had to port their numbers over or have had to deal with customer service directly or have tried to renew their minutes on their non-working website. I have had so many problems with these people and this company. Consider yourself extremely lucky if you have had no problems or issues with them.

absolutly horrible service i am on my 9th phone in less than 2 yrs and i cant believe how bad it is so today i bought a new phone just cause i wanted one and spent n5 hours on the phone for them to tell me they cant find me anywhere and now im stuck with a phone i cannot use what kind of crap is that......

straight talk was excellent until i upgraded..now they sent me 2 phones after I told them their cell phones they advertize do not work..i spent, almost, 10 hours on the phone with them trying to activate, but wont.
talk is cheap and they never answered my main question"why cell dont work, plus whres my money?

I'm on about my fourth or fifth month with my second Straight Talk phone. If you don't want to read the rest of the review, then read this: I highly recommend it to everyone, just make sure you do some research before purchasing.
In Utah, Verizon is the major cell phone player around these parts. I didn't appreciate them, with their seemingly out-of-nowhere fees (I'm exaggerating but it felt like they'd charge me for breathing sometimes). Once I could finally get myself out of the contract without having to pay a fine, I had to decide what to do in the meantime. I figured I'd grab a ST phone while looking over other services, just some track phone I can ditch later, right?
My first phone wasn't too steller. It was cheap, and you could tell. But it got the job done. After the first month of using it, I wasn't dropping any calls and it wasn't *too* bad. I figured as an experiment I'd try looking at phones that worked in the area and grab one of them. I read over some reviews, went to Walmart to ask about it, and ended up making the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy Precedent. I figured I'd use the money from starting up a new contract for an actual nice phone and give it a whirl.
Keep in mind this was my first smart phone, so I didn't know what to expect. With the more expensive smart phones, you can't really pay the $30 plan, but for about $50 a month that's actually less of what I was paying Verizon and I was getting more from it with unlimited... everything, basically.
Now here's the fun part - life makes some crazy turns and I have had to move back to a smaller town that ST says does not support the phone I purchased. This is when I got to learn the fun lesson that every phone "piggybacks" off of the bigger networks, like Verizon, AT&T, etc. The Precedent uses the Sprint network, and my cheaper phone uses Verizon. I keep the old phone as a backup, but thankfully there's been a Sprint tower put up in said home town so I can continue to use my phone.
Even with one tower in town, no matter what provider I was having to piggyback from, I haven't dropped a call and I love using my droid phone for just about anything I'd like to use it for. I'm not much of a phone gamer, this phone probably wouldn't be for you if you want to run Dead Space or something on it, but I can still check my Facebook, email, Twitter, etc on it just about wherever I am and it's great.
Now, the customer service. Yes, that's the reason I'm giving it four stars. Having to call or write customer service is a pain in the five or six months I've been using ST. Thankfully, I've only had to call them once because of a billing issue which fixed itself later (it was actually my banks fault). They seemed pretty rude and were sure that *I* was just trying to get another month of service from them when my bank statement said I had a charge holding from them. It may seem that way but I wasn't. If they would have calmed down and maybe suggested I call my bank first, then things would have turned out not so sour. Thankfully, ST comes with a multitude of ways to make payments - I use their actual website, but from what I can tell you can pick up a card from Walmart, bu a code from Walmart.com, etc. If you really do want to call them to make a payment... Be careful.
So in about half the year I've been using Straight Talk, what was supposed to be temporary actually became something I'll stick with and tell my friends and family about. It's unfortunate that customer service with them is the way it is. And you should ALWAYS research something you are getting into. Thankfully the phones come with a big book of instructions and FAQs before having to call customer service!

I don't have broadband internet where I live, so the main reason I bought the service was unlimited calls and data. I got it for Christmas with an LG Optimus 3G and I was very happy with the service. For the 1st month, the service was without any major problems with the phone and internet (not into texting, so never much used it). Then, someone who could barely speak English called to say we were using too much data. Since when did "Unlimited Data" not mean that? So I used the internet less that I di before, but still... the internet is what I paid for with the plan. Then, the phone kept restarting and locking repetitiously over and over for days. Then, when it is on, the phone works but the web is unable to connect. Customer service cannot speak English good enough to even save their own lives. Sometimes the phone will NOT charge when plugged in! This company should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

I Love Straight Talk... I've been with them over a year with No issues and I live in a small town but I Always have service. Straight Talk works in the Mountains when my AT&T would'nt!!!
![]()
This is about a joke. If you leave your area you can forget about service, and customer support is terrible. They care nothing about customer or products. It means nothing about keeping customer happy!Would not recomend!!
![]()
got my slide phone no trouble so far. samsong galaxy precedent. 175$ at wallmart not a good price but better than having a plan like 160$ per month and cant get rid of it for 2 years :)45$ a month a grate deal!!!
![]()
I agree with the other negative reviews on here-this is a terrible company. Along with very poor customer service, the phones themselves (Nokia E5) are cheap and poorly functioning, the volume/audio quality is bad even turned all the way up, reception is awful on AT&T's 3G network (phones ending in G), calls are always dropped and are never clear, the so-called unlimited internet is very slow, and a lot of times won't even connect, and many text messages won't even come through. This service is beyond bad-to the point that the company shouldn't even be operating. Go with someone different, you will be much happier.
![]()
Straight Talk pre-paid is an absolute waste of money, time and effort. This has to be the worst company I've dealt with in my life. These people (foreigners) can't do anything right. Their website never ever works. Now, my phone number is lost for good because I tried porting my number over from Verizon to save money. Nobody knows where it went? These very unhelpful customer service people know nothing about helping customers or solving problems. Wal-Mart should be ashamed of themselves for being affiliated with this joke of a company. You can't even activate a new phone or minutes without having major problems, and it doesn't matter if you talk to a live person, do it on their website, or e-mail them. I've been through all of this. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau and Florida Attorney General about my experience and I highly encourage you to do so as well. The more people complain, the more likely something will be done about this scam of a company. I would tell the manager at your local Wal-Mart store about your negative experience as well. Spread the word, because this company needs to be investigated and shut down for this kind of very poor service and taking people's money.

Worst Customer Service Ever! Called after having an issue trying to transer my phone number. After having to repeat my issue several times to the broken English horrible accent "Peggy", he finally just ignored my issue completely and kept asking me if I was a lady. When I asked what my gender had to do with him fixing my phone he kept on the subject stating most people named Christian were boys or men. When I submitted a formal complaint on the guy and the phone, the next "Peggy" that called me never even told me sorry for the phone issues or the awful experience, only wanted to remind me over and over how (in my words) I'd wasted my $30 on the card since it's in their T&C's that cards can't be refunded. Since they can be transfered I will give my mins over to one of my other unfortunate friends who has service with them, but I am taking the phone back to wal mart to get my money back on it. After all these issues she thought I was still going to keep the phone. Whatever. I'd rather pay $30 more per month with my reg cell company and at least get great customer service from an American.

The WORST possible service available. The low price doesn't matter when the service sucks as badly as it does. Their text messaging system randomly resends old texts (meaning days to weeks old) up to several times per day on some days. Other times I don't receive texts that were sent to me. There's no rhyme or reason, but this service isn't worth $5 let alone $45
