Page Plus Prepaid Wireless Service
Editor Rating
Overview
Page Plus Cellular is a smaller prepaid cell phone provider based in Toledo, Ohio and is a DBA of Online Wireless, Inc..
Page Plus prepaid is one of the few smaller carriers offering extremely low per minute rates and routes calls on the Verizon Wireless network.
Pros: Page Plus is an extremely simple prepaid cell phone service and offers low per minute rates. Additionally, payments are accepted via credit card through PayPal and there is no activation fee to get started with service.
Cons: Phone choices with Page Plus are limited on the main website and lack a lot of the more advanced features that might be expected by some users.
Detailed Provider Information
Plans: Page Plus offers three different types of plans. The first is their standard plan, which is a traditional pay-as-you-go service. The price per minute depends on the refill card used. The 10 dollar card is 10 cents per minute, the 25 dollar card is 6.25 cents per minute, the 50 dollar card is 5 cents per minute, and the 80 dollar card is 4 cents per minute. Customers using the standard plan can add unlimited nights and weekends for a 99 cent daily fee. The Unlimited Talk n Text plan offers unlimited voice minutes and unlimited text messaging for $39.95 per month. This plan also includes 20MB of data transfer. The Talk n Text 1200 plan includes 1,200 voice minutes, 1,200 text and multimedia messages, plus 50MB of data for $29.95 per month.
Customer Service: Customer service is available by traditional landline phone or by dialing a special number on your cell phone. Customer service is also available via email through their website.
Credit Check: None
Contract: None
Payment Options: Prepaid minute cards for Page Plus are only available online or through local retailers (a list of which is not available on the website). Payments for phone cards purchased are taken via PayPal.
Text and Picture Messaging: Text messages cost 8 cents per message sent or received. Users can buy text messaging bundles as well, $10.95 for 2,000 messages and $19.95 for unlimited messages. These bundles expire at the end of the month and must be renewed for the next month. Picture messaging is offered at 25 cents per message, plus data charges, for the standard plan, and 10 cents per message plus data charges for the Unlimited Talk n Text plan.
Data Plans: Page Plus charges for data by the kilobyte, at $.0006 cents per KB, or 60 cents per megabyte for the Unlimited Talk n Text plan, and $.0012, or $1.20 per megabyte, for the standard plan. This includes multimedia messages (MMS), which they say range between 20 and 200 KB.
Downloadables: No downloadables are available for Page Plus customers at this time.
International Calling: International calling is available but there is a limited list of countries that can be called. If you plan to use international calling, you'll want to check out the current list of countries you can dial to on their site before signing up. Additionally, a listing of International rates is not currently available on their site, so you'll need to call to check the current rates to each destination company.
Roaming Charges: The roaming process with Page Plus is a bit complicated for the unsophisticated user. Roaming requires several dialing steps that differ depending on where your calling from. These roaming calls are billed at 59 cents per minute.
Calling Features: Voicemail, caller ID, and call waiting are included with Page Plus Wireless service at no additional charge.
Activation Fee: There is no activation fee to start up with the Page Plus Cellular service.
Nationwide Long Distance: Nationwide long distance calling is available and calls are charged the same as regular calls.
411 Calls: Directory assistance is available from Page Plus prepaid at a cost of $1.25 to connect to the 411 service in addition to your normal per minute rate.
Earliest Minute Expiration: Minutes expire 120 days from the time you add them to your account.
911 Calls: Yes, where available (no listing of where it is available is provided).
Phones: Page Plus offers a limited number of phones, most of which are on the lower end, since the company does not offer advanced services. Page Plus also offers the activation of your current phone on their network, as long as that phone is compatible. See your local retailer for phone compatibility. The Samsung A670 and the LG VX6100 are both camera phones.

WARNING it takes 30 minutes to get client support. They will hang up on you if your problem is difficult for them to solve quickly. Which nothing really should be!! About the only thing that works well is the money leaving your account. They resell Verizon so the quality is good when it works, but what good is a phone that doesn't work???

I found Page Plus to be problematic with regard to its cancellation

I found Page Plus to be problematic with regard to its cancellation of minutes policy. I had $108.00 of prepaid minutes remaining, and my phone calls were summarily shut off without ANY notice whatsoever from the company. They said they changed their policy about giving first-time minutes expiration credit, and just TOOK my hard earned money entrusted to them. They are so cheap that they didn't even put an auto notice on my web account on their website, which would have cost them nothing. I feel strongly that they should have done that with the same notification system they used to remind themselves to cancel my my service and take my cash. I am really disappointed in the lack of customer service. This company really shoots itself in the foot by such action because I was just about to re-up my minutes, and was a repeat customer until this happened. Their one-way stance, inflexibility, and outright meanness says they don't want not do they care about losing my business. They might win some, but they just lost one.

Page Plus in the last three weeks has made it so that you can't 1)activate Verizon prepaid phones anymore. 2)As of today, you can't activate ANY Verizon based smartphone. They are destroying what made them unique. Add to that the horrible customer service and dealer support and you've got loser city. Page Plus is a waste of time. They get a big fat ZERO in my book. Anyone stupid enough to put up with their abuse , dealer or customer deserves what they get. No price on unlimited is worth this crap.

I hadn't any idea who, what, when, where when it came to PP. It was my ex who had gotten a phone from the co, as he bought the phone from a neighborhood mexican store. Once my ex left to Mexico, he let me keep the phone, which I love the unlimited calling and texting by the way. Any other service other than PP, when texting to Mexico, you're charged at least 10, 12 cent per text, outgoing or incoming. With PP, so not the case, I am texting to Mexico at least 20, 30 times a day, each day. I love the service. The one and only thing I do not like are your choices of the phones that are available, these phones are ancient, pre-historic! I even had an LG-Chocolate phone, the bill was so high, we couldnt keep up with the payments, ultimately, the serivce had to be shut off, therefore, I still had the LG-Chocolate, but before I even heard about PP, I tossed the LG in the trash, now, after reading up on PP, and finding out I could have activated my old phone, I am now kicking myself in the rear. At the end of the day, I love PP and its services. I was by CS to not get a PP phone in a white box, as they aren't always dependable with sending and receiving picture messages or FW anything, to always get a PP phone in the plastic packaging. I am very pleased with PP. I bought one in a white box, couldnt do any as above, so I called CS, true about the long waiting period, but they are very patient. They even sent me a new phone which was able to do what I originally wanted. I returned the old phone back, but for more than a month, they keep telling me the phone I returned to them STILL had not arrived. Nonetheless, I love PP's serivces. All I pay for is $39.99. No more, no less and I get the services I pay for.

Great price, but worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. IF you can get a customer service rep on the phone it will take minimum 30 minutes no matter what time you call. Then usually a MINIMUM 15 minutes more to solve your issue or answer your question. If your time is not valuable, and you don't mind lot of frustration, they are a fine. Otherwise, 1 STAR!

Love the service. Not perfect or fancy but basic and that is all I need. If I need ringtones then I download them and email them to my phone as mp3 files and it works with no problem. However, I heard that Verizon Wireless has caught on to people buying their prepaid phones new and then activating them on PagePlus' network and the newer prepaid phones will have to be activated on Verizon Wireless' network for 90 days before activating them on PagePlus' network. I was with Verizon Wireless on a contract for 5 years and got tired of 2 lines for $140 a month. Their prepaid is horribly expensive as I found out when I used up $15 worth of airtime in 1 hour or less. I switched to PagePlus and couldn't be happier. While I was with Verizon Wireless, I moved across the country to another state and I called them to move my service to the new state. They said it would not cost me anything. These incompetent idiots lied big time. They screwed up the move because they made some big goof as they did not do it right and then these idiots wanted me to pay them $43 for the move when they said it would not cost anything and it was their mistake but they wanted ME to pay for THEIR mistake. I refused to pay the bill, as it was their mistake and Verizon Wireless should have to pay for it. I will never pay it as they said it would not cost me anything. Verizon Wireless can go screw themselves. PagePlus forever...yay!!!

Page Plus Cellular has the most horrible customer service I have ever experienced. It sounds as though they owners of this company set up a call center in the Slums of Ohio. The representatives have bad attitudes, and they are not very informative. They have no phone etiquette, what so ever. One representative was chewing gum in my ear, and typing so slow as if she was typing with one finger. She was not listening she kept asking the me to repeat what I already told her. I do not want to give any stars, there is no option for zero stars. My phone broke after 2 weeks I was told I would receive a new phone in three to five business days and that has yet to happen. This company should be ashamed of itself. Where did you get those people from, they sound like they all are having a bad day, and they act as if they are doing you a favor. If it wasn't for customers they would not have a job. This company is AWFUL!!!

I have been with PagePlus for a few months. It has very good Verizon coverage, and you can use any CDMA phone (except prepaids, and Blackberry features wont work). The main thing PagePlus needs is a data plan. The small amount included with the unlimited talk/text plan is not enough, and extra data is very expensive. This would then be a much better plan than StraightTalk, because ST does not have full internet access. It is limited to certain websites programed into the phone like TracPhone. The only other problem with PP is their customer service. They’re friendly and helpful when you can get hold of them. Usually you must try multiple calls to get through, receiving an “All circuits busy” message. Fortunately the only time I need to speak with them is when I change phones, because I pay bills online. I took one star away for customer service response time and no data plans.

I am a Page Plus Dealer & I DO have to say, b/c PP is a smaller company, its always better to deal with a local dealer do get better service. Before I became a dealer, I was too a customer. And I LOVE the service & Signal I get with PP!! So thats why I became a dealer.. Anyways, as far as I can tell, we can activate ANY CDMA phone, but NO 3G service phone, for ex: No Cingular/ATT, or T-Mobile etc. We CAN do Verizon Phones, & most all other CDMA phones. I have not had 1 Verizon Phone fail activation! I Activated my Motorola Krave ZN4 on PP, which is a touch screen smartphone & it works GREAT! I also LOVE the signal that I get EVERYWHERE with my PP service! Its runs completely off of Verizon's Cell Towers, so you are basically getting a MUCH CHEAPER cell service, through Verizon! And our Unlimted Monthly Plan is only $39.99, and I have NEVER been charged all those "Fees" that I have been charged with other cell carriers, prepaid or contract. I have also yet, to be charged tax or any other extra fees! Its never went a cent above $39.99 per month! EVER! And I love the service & you cannot find a better service/signal, or cheaper price on ANY other Unlimited cell plan. Cricket used to be the only "Unlimited" service available out there. And as much as I used them, (for years) their service SUCKED! I will never leave PP & its the reason I decided to be PP Dealer! Yes, the 1800 for customer service takes forever SOMETIMES, but not always.. I have gotten through within 2 mins. before. Just DO NOT call during peak hours. Try to call early morning or early evening. Its just like any other CS! But, they dont have as many people working for their CS as you would see at ATT.. So give em' a break as they try to build up their business. Think about it, all businesses start out small & grow.. But, anyways there are alot of people out there charging a whole lotta $'s to port or activate your old phone to PP! Anywhere between $10 & up to like $30 I think I have seen.. I want to let u guys know that I will do it for anyone that wants to try Page Plus Cellular, for absolutely FREE!! I would just like for everyone to see what PP is about before they blast on em'! Cuz they have the best pre-aid service & the cheapest I have ever used! I used Boost Mobile b4 now, and they always lost a signal in the weirdest places & never kept a signal in the middle of town! So I dropped them, even though they had a good Unlimited Plan at $50 something per month. So reply to this post if u wanna free hook-up with Page Plus, Oh & the person that asked earlier about why their phone balance was going down even though they put $40 on their phone, did you buy the Unlimited Page Plus Activation Card? If you didn't, you can fix this by calling customer service. If you want to add the Unlimited Plan of $39.99 to your phone, you have to buy the unlimited card the first time you buy the minutes for your phone. This act's as its activation, then you can buy regular cards after that. Also, remember that you have to shut your phone off, during activation. I don't know why, but you have to do this! And once you do that & follow these simple instructions (which will also be on your card & on the PP website) for activating the Unlimited Plan, you shouldn't have any other problems EVER! For the people that are downing Page Plus so badly, either you haven't tried the service but are going by hear-say or you didn't follow simple instructions on your refill cards. See, I have read alot of the comments posted things that wouldn't even be related to PP so they must not have ever really tried the service. And for the others that are complaining about the CS line, I do understand your pain, as I too have to call the same # as you when I have a CS issue with a customer's phone. But, its well worth the money you pay for an awesome signal & lower priced monthly plan that most! Thanks!!

I dealt with PP before. A friend did as well. He said he liked it as it was cheap. I did not. Customer Service may be good once you get them, but is poor if you have to wait a long time on the line and such. I found a better solution locally, but you have to live in the Cincinnati/Dayton, Ohio area to do it. I went to a Cincinnati Bell store and got their iWireless prepay. Rates are awesome, and customer service is great in store or on phone. They even knew how to deal with an "unlocked" GSM phone. And I can roam in the US as well via AT&T network when out of the area. too easy.
