Overview

Page Plus Cellular is a smaller prepaid cell phone provider based in Toledo, Ohio and is a DBA of Online Wireless, Inc..

Page Plus prepaid is one of the few smaller carriers offering extremely low per minute rates and routes calls on the Verizon Wireless network.

Pros: Page Plus is an extremely simple prepaid cell phone service and offers low per minute rates. Additionally, payments are accepted via credit card through PayPal and there is no activation fee to get started with service.

Cons: Phone choices with Page Plus are limited on the main website and lack a lot of the more advanced features that might be expected by some users.

Detailed Provider Information

Plans: Page Plus offers three different types of plans. The first is their standard plan, which is a traditional pay-as-you-go service. The price per minute depends on the refill card used. The 10 dollar card is 12 cents per minute, the 25 dollar card is 9 cents per minute, the 50 dollar card is 8 cents per minute, and the 80 dollar card is 6 cents per minute. Customers using the standard plan can add unlimited nights and weekends for a 99 cent daily fee. The Unlimited Talk n Text plan offers unlimited voice minutes and unlimited text messaging for $39.95 per month. This plan also includes 20MB of data transfer. The Talk n Text 1200 plan includes 1,200 voice minutes, 1,200 text and multimedia messages, plus 50MB of data for $29.95 per month.

Customer Service: Customer service is available by traditional landline phone or by dialing a special number on your cell phone. Customer service is also available via email through their website.

Credit Check: None

Contract: None

Payment Options: Prepaid minute cards for Page Plus are only available online or through local retailers (a list of which is not available on the website). Payments for phone cards purchased are taken via PayPal.

Text and Picture Messaging: Text messages cost 8 cents per message sent or received. Users can buy text messaging bundles as well, $10.95 for 2,000 messages and $19.95 for unlimited messages. These bundles expire at the end of the month and must be renewed for the next month. Picture messaging is offered at 25 cents per message, plus data charges, for the standard plan, and 10 cents per message plus data charges for the Unlimited Talk n Text plan.

Data Plans: Page Plus charges for data by the kilobyte, at $.0006 cents per KB, or 60 cents per megabyte for the Unlimited Talk n Text plan, and $.0012, or $1.20 per megabyte, for the standard plan. This includes multimedia messages (MMS), which they say range between 20 and 200 KB.

Downloadables: No downloadables are available for Page Plus customers at this time.

International Calling: International calling is available but there is a limited list of countries that can be called. If you plan to use international calling, you'll want to check out the current list of countries you can dial to on their site before signing up. Additionally, a listing of International rates is not currently available on their site, so you'll need to call to check the current rates to each destination company.

Roaming Charges: The roaming process with Page Plus is a bit complicated for the unsophisticated user. Roaming requires several dialing steps that differ depending on where your calling from. These roaming calls are billed at 59 cents per minute.

Calling Features: Voicemail, caller ID, and call waiting are included with Page Plus Wireless service at no additional charge.

Activation Fee: There is no activation fee to start up with the Page Plus Cellular service.

Nationwide Long Distance: Nationwide long distance calling is available and calls are charged the same as regular calls.

411 Calls: Directory assistance is available from Page Plus prepaid at a cost of $1.25 to connect to the 411 service in addition to your normal per minute rate.

Earliest Minute Expiration: Minutes expire 120 days from the time you add them to your account.

911 Calls: Yes, where available (no listing of where it is available is provided).

Phones:  Page Plus offers a limited number of phones, most of which are on the lower end, since the company does not offer advanced services. Page Plus also offers the activation of your current phone on their network, as long as that phone is compatible. See your local retailer for phone compatibility. The Samsung A670 and the LG VX6100 are both camera phones.

Sharon: just so you know pageplus phones have a 4 month warranty you should have just called pageplus directly and they would have shipped you a new phone. Also, on their website they only advertise refurbished phones, don't you check into a company before you buy? I dunno, I just love pageplus and always will..

Page Plus Cellular Just kicked Straight Talk to the curb. What's not to like? 5
Matt 2009/11/18

Just kicked Straight Talk to the curb. What's not to like? US-based customer service and 5 dollars cheaper than Straight Talk. The economy is bad enough right now. Page Plus at least contributes back by employing people in the US. Walmart, TracFone, and Straight Talk can pound sand.

Page Plus Cellular page plus is the best deal for the money, 39,95 nation wide, 3
Dominic 2009/11/18

page plus is the best deal for the money, 39,95 nation wide, can not beat that. however yes it is a little rough to get into customer service lines always full, i get the all circuts are busy now message. the customer service reps are nice and they dont mind taking the time on the phone with you once you get them on the phone. but if you want a customer service rep fast pay the extra 80.00 per month and go back to verizon or who ever. I found after ther alltel verizon merger, the verizon reps are very rude and short with you on the phone. the hold time to verizon is somtimes as much as 30 minutes. Page plus has some bugs to work out but still the best thing out!

james johnson 2009/11/10

i have been trying to contact page plus to change my voicemail password for the past few months and every time I call I get told that all their operators are busy. How can all the operators be busy at 8:55am when they do not open until 9:00am. I get alot of voicemail and not once have I been able to access this account since I got this phone and started using page plau. If someone from page plus reads this message they should contact me so that I can change my voicemail password in order for me to get my voicemail and text messages. My number is 814-460-0193.

Page Plus Cellular Had Verizon for many years. Switched to PP monthly $39.95. Wow 4
X-Verizon customer 2009/11/09

Had Verizon for many years. Switched to PP monthly $39.95. Wow cheaper. Works wherever Verizon works. Customer service and billing system are horrible. The reps I talked to were always friendly and helpful, but very very hard to get through to. You have to keep re-dialing until you get through and then have to wait forever.

Refill on the net, and your account doesn't get credited! Tried Autopay which is supposed to credit automatically and got double charged.
I don't know about web usage as I only use my phone for talk and text.

If it wasn't for the difficulty in getting through to customer service and a half-baked web site, it would be a 5 star service for my needs.

Page Plus Cellular Great prices, but no customer service, and too many tech issues. 2
clocks 2009/11/08

Great prices, but no customer service, and too many tech issues. Incoming calls drop after 30-35 seconds fairly consistently. I am sick of having to call people back and explain the issue. Long hold times to call customer service, and sometimes you cannot even open a ticket through their website cause that is also flaky. Time to move on.

Page Plus Cellular great prices and network but sevice sucks and so does customer 1
Chris 2009/11/07

great prices and network but sevice sucks and so does customer service. They say that they can use any phone on any network. Well i have a verizon audiovox xv6700. i got the unlimited plan with the 20 mb of data. everything was great for the first 2 weeks. well the last 1 weeks have sucked. i keep getting a computer interupting my calls telling me "your service does not allow you to complete this call. message DU3.". I have tried writing them and seeing whats going on they tell me to try to reprogram my phone and if that don't work call customer service it might be a more serious problem. well icall customer service and get hung up on once after waiting 20 minutes. call back and waited another 20 only to have someone who didn't know what she was doing. so she "transfrered" me to her manager just to get hung up on again. this company sucks. might be cheap but their customer service and lack of phone tech is a big MINUS.

Page Plus Cellular The price is great. Customer service could use some improvement, 4
Lee 2009/11/02

The price is great. Customer service could use some improvement, but overall it's a great deal. My only problem is that I bought a Blitz phone from wal-mart and didn't find out until after having it activated on pageplus that you can't get data on any phone that you don't directly buy from them, and there phones are pretty sucky. So no internet? That's not something I appreciate!

Bought my PP two days ago. I was told it comes with 100minutes. And It didnt! So,I went back to the store I brought it from and they said they'll contact PP for me. So I went ahead and bout a $10 card. Someone sent a voicemail,i dial 1 for voicemail and BAMM cant get in cuz i dont know the PASSWORD! I tried the last 4 digits of my phone number. 1234 and 0000 still nothing. So i sent a ticket to PP about the problem yesterday. Im waitin for them to contact me.."if they do". And YES i want my FREE 100 Minutes like i was told the phone would have when i bought it. If i dont get it,im selling this phone on craigslist lol.

I signed up for Page Plus service about a month ago & I currently have no complaints. I love the fact that I can use any Verizon or Alltel phone with this service/plan. I am currently using the pink blackberry curve. The customer service wait time sometimes is pretty long, but all the reps have been nothing but nice & helpful to me.

Page Plus Cellular OOPS...my bad the Samsung Sch U350 for 19.95 at Wally World was 4
pikkil47` 2009/11/01

OOPS...my bad the Samsung Sch U350 for 19.95 at Wally World was labeled the Glint for Alltell.. anyway.. tons of features Voice - both dialing and announcing incoming call alert, external speaker/answer key (correct, you can answer the phone without opening it ... also make calls via voice with the phone closed. WARNING..
don't activate it on Verizon - buy it, go home, call Page Plus and activate it. After you finally get thru it takes 5 minutes or less. Then, after activated you can take your old phone and the Samsung to a VZ company store and for 10.00(max) they'll transfer the phone book and other stored info.. I say max cause they waived any charges for me- depends on which rep you get. Know what? I'm going to Wally World today and get another of these Samsungs and just store it - because they are definitely "sleepers" [all the features for 19.95] Figure the "evil V" will get hip to this and 86 these units right out of inventory.. by Verizon standards that's "too much phone for too little money" and we all know Verizon can't be having that (you know, letting the customer "win one")

Page Plus Cellular Actually 4.5 stars. Some of the reps can be grumpy but at least 4
pikkil47 2009/11/01

Actually 4.5 stars. Some of the reps can be grumpy but at least they don't lie their lips off like the "evil V and evil T" The 39.95 plan is pretty straightforward. IF you act fast you can get a Samsung Smooth at Wally World for 19.95. In the Ohio WVA area these are the former Alltell models (gleam) and man are they packed with features...cust svc does take forever to get thru to but look at the positive trade off. ALSO check their revised coverage map -- the area in green is the duplicate of the Verizon national coverage (usually in red) even had coverage (non roaming) in "Nowhere Ky." (in the Ohio/Ky. /WVA tri state area. Pretty decent deal

Page Plus Cellular The service is Good , however the Customer Service is NOT GOOD, 3
Charlene 2009/10/30

The service is Good , however the Customer Service is NOT GOOD, I've been trying since 12:30pm to have service switched from Boost Mobile to PagePlus as of now 10:37pm the service is still NOT switched I've called PagePluse at total of 8 times today to be put on hold, I had to give the information 3 times to still be put on hold I was told to call back 3 times and I was HUNG UP ON 5 TIMES AFTER WAITING ON THE LINE FOR 20 PLUS MIN. NOW THIS IS NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE SOME OF THEM NEED TO BE RETRAINED ON HOW TO HANDLE THESE TYPES OF CALLS..IT'S APPARENT THAT I'M SWITCHING MY SERVICE FOR A REASON AND YOU ALL HAVE STILL NOT HELPED ME AND THE LAST TIME I WAS HUNG UP ON WAS AT 10:13PM AFTER HOLDING THE LINE FOR 28 MINTUES AND OF COURSE I CALLED BACK TO GET " OUR OFFICE IS CLOSED AND ARE OFFICE WILL NOT REOPEN UNTIL TOMMORROW" WHICH IS SATURDAY..COME ON PEOPLE I'VE HAD SERVICE WITH YOU ALL BEFORE YOU BECAME UNLIMITED AND I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL TODAY..THERE IS A SAYING OF BITING OFF MORE THAN YOU CAN CHEW I THINK YOU ALL NEED TO HIRE SOME MORE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. OR OPEN ANOTHER OFFICE IN SOUTH CAROLINA...MY NUMBER IS 864-293-5526

Page Plus Cellular I switched from a Verizon Friends and Family plan and my cost 5
Benjamin 805 2009/10/26

I switched from a Verizon Friends and Family plan and my cost have gone from a total ranging between $82.00 and $86.00 to between $40.00 and $42.00. I had one minor issue with setting up my online account but withing 24 hours of submitting a trouble ticket online they were able to have the issue resolved. Otherwise everything went extremely smooth. My number port was completed and my phone was active within 2 minutes of submitting the port request and I was up and going on the $39.95 plan about 5 minutes later. The total time it took to get everything going was around 20 minutes from the time I picked up the phone until the time everything was set.

There are a couple of things to consider before signing up for service. The first is to make sure Verizon has good coverage where you would like to use your phone. All Former Alltel areas that Verizon took over are also now included in the service area. If they do not provide a strong enough signal where you live or work then Page Plus is useless. If you travel you should look up the areas you travel to see if you are covered. The best way to know whether or not an area is covered with Page Plus is to go to the Verizon Wireless web site select coverage under plans and select the prepay map. If it is purple then your good to go. If needed your phone can roam on other networks outside of Verizon such as Sprint and US Cellular however those calls will cost $0.59 per minute. The other thing is to make sure that if you do choose to make the switch you let the people who were on the same mobile network as you know as you will no longer be a mobile to mobile call to them. This is the rule for most providers including Verizon AT&T and T-Mobile as well as a lot of the local providers such as CellularONE. The only exception that I'm aware of is the users of the Sprint any mobile plan.

All in all I would say I am extremely satisfied with the outcome of the switch and would recommend to my friends. If I had the option however I would have rated the service a 4.5 instead of 5 because though the customer service people I have spoken to have been excellent it does take between 5 and 20 minutes to reach anyone.

I was happy with the service until they cut off my phone. It had $53 worth of minutes still unused that had "expired" and were "confiscated" per customer service. Apparently, after 120 days your minutes expire. How wonderful my money gets to fall down another greedy corporate hole. The manager on the phone offered me half the minutes back for 10 more dollars! I was speechless. What a rip off!!
Really angry!!

flinx999 2009/10/21

Man... I really don't understand any of the bad reviews... I've been using the service for 4 years and never had issues with customer service. I have 4 phone (ENV3, ENV2, Samsung, and Razer) All bought and activated on ebay - I've moved ESNs - gotten back minutes when I forgot to renew, and received AWESOME service each time. Nationwide coverage everywhere I go (over Verizon network) and NO flipping contracts. I pay about 10 to 25 dollars every FOUR months for each phone. The big difference is, I don't spend every stinking moment talking on it. I use the phones when I have to and don't attach it to my ear like a facial wart. Wake up and stop being a slave to ATT and Verizon contracts.....

Linda 2009/10/17

So far so good. Have been with Verizon for 10 years and my only complaint is the cost. I used to use my phone on nights and weekends for long distance, but now get that service on home phone and I like it better. It is much less costly than it used to be as they have to compete with cell services. Cellular is now just for emergencies and occaisional calls when out of the house. My husband didn't carry his phone ($20/mo for a second line) most of the time. I sent an email question to Page Plus last month and got an answer within 24 hours. Decided to change and called customer service. It's true I waited 20 min., but I had phone on speaker and was doing other things. I ported both phones to them. The agent was understandable and patient. The portage occured without incident. This morning I called and waited 6 minutes to speak with someone to activate and buy minutes for the phones. Again, a very pleasant and agent who I could understand and was patient with me. Both phones are working. We live in the mountains and have great coverage. So far, so good. Instead of paying $70/mo. + taxes, etc., we'll be paying $100-200 per year. What a savings! This is a perfect plan for those who use their phones infrequently. I had tried to get a Verizon plan that would save me money. When they found out I was over 65, they told me about a plan that is NOT in their brochure, but it didn't compare either. I had the Verizon rep check Page Plus on the store internet and he was speechless. So, we'll give it a try. So far no problems with set up and coverage. If things change, we can always switch.

Page Plus Cellular What happened to your phone service? I can no longer receive 1
Walt P 2009/10/16

What happened to your phone service? I can no longer receive voice messages. Callers hear a Verizon Error message each time that instructs them to redial. But, when they do they get the same error message over and over. I have tried to call your customer service number and no one ever answers. What is going on with your service; no one seems to have any contact with you any more. Not even at the phone stores .... they don't know why you have abandoned everyone. Are you going out of business or do you just don't care about your customer base any more?
