Omni has been providing cellular service that has been doing business since 1992. They have over 30,000 retailers nationwide and have over 100,000 active subscribers on their network.
Omni prepaid cell phone service is based in Atlanta, Georgia and is owned by West End Enterprises, Inc.
Pros: Calls to Canada are treated as regular calls and this is a flat pay by the minute plan making pricing simple.
Cons: Omni started out as a retail pager store that grew into a prepaid wireless company reselling other carriers' service as prepaid. Their handsets are all older models and mostly refurbished. In addition, their voicemail activation process is confusing at best and roaming capabilities require a bit of work. There are no terms and conditions available on their website. There is also no clear indication of features or additional fees charged to the account.
Plans: Omni prepaid offers straight per minute rate service. Calls are charged at 14 cents per minute and refills cards are available in demominations of 10, 25 and 40 dollars.

Calls to Mexico and Puerto Rico cost airtime rates plus an additional 25 cents per minute. Calls to locations aside from Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico are not available at this time.
Roaming Charges: Roaming is extremely complicated with Omni prepaid.
While roaming, customers may experience one of several occurences. The first is On-Net Roaming (no additional fee). The second is a two-stage dialing that will occur as follows: The destination number is entered and a "SEND" key is pressed. The customer will hear an announcement prompting them to re-enter their destination number. Roamer Plus is another option which means roaming in a non-Omni prepaid market with no roaming agreements and two-stage dialing will occur as follows:
Destination number is entered and the SEND key is pressed.
Customer will be asked to enter cellular number, four-digit pass code, and destination number.
A recording will indicate the customer will incur additional roaming charges and available minutes and call will be connected.
Customer will be charged $1.95 plus tax per minute.
Customer may hear an intercept message instructing to complete the call using one of the following options:
Telephone calling card
Collect call
Major credit card
Prepay debit calling card
If this is a police or medical emergency dial 911 now.

Phones: The p
hones offered by Omni prepaid appear to be older generation, non-color phones from various manufacturers. Many are refurbished or come with refurbished batteries and/or chargers. They are Omni models (Omni 300, Omni 400, etc). It is obvious from the pictures that they are major make phones (such as Motorola, etc) that are "branded" as Omni. Prices range from 15 to 60 dollars.
