Virgin introduces first Bluetooth compatible handset

Last year, Virgin released the Slice to much fanfare. This year, they’re releasing the Super Slice by UTStarcom, their first handset to utilize Bluetooth technology. It also has a bevy of other neat features, which we’ll go over after the jump.
It’s ultra thin, its depth measuring just 0.4 inches. The other dimensions are pretty small, too: 4.4 inches long and 1.9 inches wide. This is good news for us pocket-holstering cell phone users. There’s nothing worse than a super-thick, super-long, or super-wide phone making a bulge in our pocket (we’d label that as innuendo, but the bulge is clearly in the wrong place).
For other features, the Super Slice boasts a VGA camera with 3x zoom. It can also access Virgin’s music library, Headliner. The phone supports many file types, including MIDI, QCP, MP3, OMD, and CMX extensions — though we’re unclear what all of them except MIDI and MP3 are. The battery provides 4.5 hours of talk time and 230 hours of standby time.
The best part is the price: $59.99. Realize, though, that you get what you pay for, and we’re figuring that this isn’t the most durable of phones. But it’s cheap and it’s feature-laden, so why not give it a shot? It will be released on Virgin’s website and at participating retail outlets.
