Virgin inks content deal with PlayPhone
posted by Joe on July 2nd, 2008 - 10:00 am | Virgin Mobile
In an effort to deliver more premium content to its user base, Virgin Mobile has announced a partnership with PlayPhone. They are the “largest network of mobile content destinations in North America.” This includes media from Sony BMG, Cartoon Network, Konami, ABC Television, and more. So this will open up Virgin subscribers’ choices when it comes to mobile media.
“Virgin Mobile USA has a customer base whose demographics are completely in line with the entertainment content we provide,” said Ron Czerny, founder and chief executive officer at PlayPhone. “We are delighted that Virgin Mobile USA can now offer their consumers even greater variety when it comes to having fun on their phone.”
At this point, the more content they can add, the better. With Helio’s customers and devices headed Virgin’s way, they need outlets that the phones can make best use of. While this deal likely was in talks before the Virgin/Helio deal was finalized, it still makes sense on many levels for Virgin Mobile.
