Virgin gets official with Shuttle, EVDO network
posted by Joe on September 11th, 2008 - 7:30 am | Virgin Mobile
It seems that when we hear a bit of news from Virgin Mobile, we’re bound to hear a bit more in the coming days. So when they dropped the Helio by Virgin Mobile news on Tuesday, you knew there was more to come — especially since this is CTIA. The latest is the official announcement on the Shuttle, which we discussed earlier in the week. This is Virgin’s first EVDO handset, and it will take advantage of many features and services which came along with the Helio acquisition.

Here’s Bob Stohrer, chief marketing officer at Virgin Mobile USA:
“With the Helio acquisition and the new Shuttle, we’ve made a strong move into 3G, satisfying our customers who want the speed and affordability, while greatly enhancing our handset line-up just in time for the holidays.”
The phone weighs in at a tick over 3 oz., and has a 1.3 megapixel camera with video capture. The screen measures 2 inches. It has a music player, with requisite SD card support. And yeah, it has Bluetooth. It’ll cost $99.99. Check it out over at Virgin Mobile’s website.
For the data plans, we turn back to Stohrer:
“Data is the center of growth in wireless. This handset is a perfect fit for our new Mobile Web, heavily discounted for customers who purchase a monthly voice plan, and a big benefit for users looking to take advantage of the fast web-browsing abilities.”
Those mobile Web plan are as follows:

$10 — 50 MB, Unlimited VirginXL
Pay as you go
