do you need the $20 bundle to use the Unlimited Messaging $20 card? And do you have to add airtime to text? Or is it just free all month for the $20 bundle? Please tell me.

Watch out with Verizon’s free unlimited text messaging. When is it free but not free? When texting internationally. They can charge up to $.25 sending and $.20 receiving (Philippines). Depends on what country you are sending to. Be very very careful.
