US Cellular to Expand LTE

USCellular

US Cellular has announced that it intends to expand its LTE cellular coverage from 94% to 98% of the United States by the ene dof 2015, giving customers better speeds and hopefully earning more customers. According to the Fierce Wireless article and various press releases, US Cellular plans to add more than 60 LTE cell sites in 2015, and increase its mobile presence in 10 states including:
  • California
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • New Hampshire
  • North Carolina
  • Oregon
  • Vermont
  • Virginia
  • Washington
  • West Virginia
During the course of the year, US Cellular said tha more than 2,000 new cities and towns will receive LTE through US Cellular’s network. Despite the company not generally being on our radar, US Cellular is actually the fifth largest wireless carrier, coming in behind Sprint and T-Mobile. US Cellular’s prepaid offerings are reasonably competitive, and with the expansion of LTE to include roughly 98% of the country, I’m hopeful that we’ll see the company continue to grow and become more mainstream. For now, you can take a look at what it offers on the US Cellular website.]]>
