Straight Talk addresses network outage

Straight Talk review page, most of which are pretty scathing. While we encourage everyone to share their honest feelings about a cell phone service, many of the comments were completely unnecessary. There is no need to attack someone else for their assessment of a service. In any case, full text of the letter, which really isn’t much, after the jump.

Dear Straight Talkers; We apologize for our recent technical issues. The network outage was addressed and service has been restored. Due to the high volume of calls during this time, support staff may not have been able to respond as quickly as we would have preferred. We apologize and are taking steps to ensure that resources are in place to handle any and all customer issues. Though we do not wish to minimize the seriousness of this problem, the outage affected a small percentage of Straight Talk users attempting activation and replenishment of service. Most Straight Talk customers were not affected by this issue. We value our customers and continue to work with our partners to ensure that Straight Talk activation, replenishment and support meet their needs – today and always. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Pathetic. I’m on my 9th day without a phone. MY service certainly hasn’t been restored. Lying to your customers is not a good business practice

I have no service either. My wife was relying on this phone for work so now we have had to by ANOTHER phone from a different provider. I want to know what they are going to do to reimburse us for the lost time on our accounts

I am on day six. I have been on hold for up to an hour waiting for a customer service rep (the estimated wait time was five minutes) before I gave up and stopped burning minutes on my boyfriends phone. I went to WalMart every day with no help. One manager did give me another minutes card but my phone is still disabled. My kids are 1500 miles away and can’t reach me, I recently moved to a new state and have been looking for a job-but can’t be reached! Frustrated to say the least. It would be nice to hear a live voice with a real solution!

It is July 25 of the same year, Straight Talk is now out again. I have logged an hour on my sprint time trying to get someone to turn on my husbands phone. This has been going on for 3 days. I am going to get him a cricket phone and dump this piece of garbage, sad thing is he just put a new 30 dollar card on it. No refunds. Trust me, you get somebody in the Philipines at their call center. If you are American, find a company that uses an american call center!

Straight talk is out again. Haven’t been able to make calls all day; can’t get through to customer service. I emailed customer service and the reply said they’ll get back to me within 5 days. This is not good customer service, to say the least.

I just got a phone with this company two 6weeks ago. I got the $45 unlimited plan. The internet worked just fine for the first 2 weeks, then one day it stopped. I called the next day and they tried resetting my browser settings multiple times and after going throught at whole selections to get to the trouble shoot line. I finally got through to a person, after 32 mins on the line. He told me that I needed to call back. Which I did and I went so far and then connection shuts off. Well a week went by and I still had no received a call and my browser was still down. So I called them once again, went through the same process and allowed them 48 more hours, still haven’t recieved a call and its still down. Today when I called they tried getting me to do the WHOLE process all over again. I told them to just transfer me to a supervisor and they denied my request because I was calling from the phone with their service. I thought maybe I would let the first 45 dollar plan expire and purchase a new 45 dollar card and I would be back in business. Still now network. I am taking teh phone back to where I had purchased it. It’s not the phone, they did something to shut it off. They told me to give them 24 more hours to fix it. I have had nothing but problems everytime I call the customer service line. And they all sound like they don’t speak much English.

I bought an iPhone 5 as soon as they were available from a Walmart here in Virginia. The internet worked for the first night. The next morning I got the message that I had “no data service provider,” and the problem has persisted now for nearly two weeks. I called Streight Talk’s service center late at night, and they performed a few tricks on my phone. At one point the lady asked me to change a setting that could not be changed, and finally advised me that “AT&T Are having an outage in your area.” So, I tried out the phone in a major city many miles away, and it still doesn’t work. I am returning the phone.

This service has been a pain in the A## since I bought it. I never have been able to rely on the emial feature. Folks at Wallmart try…but eventually just give up. If one calls Customer no-service, they’d better be bi-lingual in Tagalog. This is probably due to customers trying to get more for less. Straight Talk Sucks.

I have had straight talk for over a year.I never had any problems till last night when my service went out.It is still out this morning. After reading your comments it is not making me to reassured. I hate to complain because stuff happens but Americans are being ripped off left and right then you find something that works now this. I hope they resolve these issues. We cant win companies can do what ever they want. Communism forced on us by manipulation of our wallets and needs. If its not the govt. its big business.

I switched my ST service from Sprint to AT&T 2 weeks ago because the coverage was so spotty in my area. My AT&T service has been out since Sunday night. I’ve called twice, but Tech Support is only being told there’s an outage in my area and resolution is expected within 24 hrs. I’m wondering if ST’s customers exceed their network equipment capacity… BTW, my work cellphone is also on the AT&T network… and works fine.
