T-Mobile ToGo raising text messaging rates to 20 cents
posted by Joe on November 19th, 2008 - 11:00 am | T-Mobile
Bad news for those who are thinking of using T-Mobile To Go prepaid. Prior to this week, their text messaging rates were among the best for major carrier prepaid. You could send messages for 10 cents, and receive them for 5 cents. However, it appears that has changed. I found it first on Howard Forum, and now it’s even on the official T-Mobile site. Text messaging will be 20 cents to send and receive.

For the time being, it appears that current users are grandfathered into their 10/5 deal. The 20 cents deal only applies to new customers. However, it seems it will only be a matter of time before they raise rates on current customers.
Anyone going to leave T-Mobile once they implement this rate hike for existing customers?

Hopefully this is foreshadowing some variety of message bundling. I’d switch to T-Mobile in a heartbeat if they started offering prepaid messaging bundles.

‘Text messages are just $0.20 each to send and receive in the US and Canada. International text, instant, picture, and video messaging rates are as set forth above. Text messages, Yahoo!® Messenger messages, MSN® Messenger messages, AOL® Instant Messengerâ„¢ (AIM®) messages, and Alerts are all considered messages and count towards your account balance.’
I logged into my phone records via their website and I began looking at the communications zone. It was there, where I came across the text msging, and so I clicked learn more. This copy paste crap was at the bottom of the website.
