Look for T-Mobile prepaid unlimited deal on May 16
posted by Joe on April 30th, 2010 - 7:30 am | T-Mobile
Earlier this month we heard rumblings of an unlimited prepaid plan from T-Mobile. The source, TmoNews, has come back with some further confirmation. T-Mobile will not only release a $50 unlimited talk and text plan, but will also offer a new 10 cents per minute plan that undercuts some of its closest rivals.
Both AT&T and Verizon offer 10 cents per minute rates, but charge a dollar per day, on days the phone is used. T-Mobile plans to go a bit cheaper, offering 10 cents per minute calling for $15 per month. That’s just 50 cents per day, though its’ not quite half the price of Verizon and AT&T. Not using your phone for a day saves you a dollar with them, while the $15 flat monthly rate doesn’t account for idle days.
What’s not clear right now is if these plans replace the current T-Mobile prepaid plans. Will they do away with the pay-as-you-go cards? They’ll almost certainly kill the $1 per day plan they have. But their pay-as-you-go, especially the Gold Rewards, remains a popular prepaid option. It would be a shame to see that go away.
