Republic Wireless Offers Discounted Phones with Free Service

Last week, Republic Wireless, a Sprint MVNO that was the pioneer in  Wifi calling, announced that it has experienced enough growth that its parent company, Bandwith, will be spinning it off into its own entity. And, as is only appropriate, the company has lined up some pretty sweet deals to commemorate the occasion. There are two separate deals, both of which involve discounted phones, both of which will come with six months of free service. This contract-free, no-cost service will consist of unlimited talk, unlimited text, and 1 GB of data. Plus, of course, the use of Wifi for calling and texts, as Republic Wireless is known for. The first phone to be discounted is the Moto Z Play, and it will be discounted to $349 ($100 off of the original price). This discounted price includes the free service and will be available from tomorrow, December 7, 2016 to December 12, 2016. Then, on December 13, 2016, the Huawei Ascend 5W will be on sale for $129 (a discount of $50) until December 19, 2016. That price also includes the six months of free service. While it might, at the surface, look like a pretty hefty price for a phone, the unlimited talk and text with 1 GB of data normally costs $20 per month through Republic Wireless. That works out to $120 worth of savings on top of the discount to the phones. It is worth noting that, as far as I am aware, Republic Wireless devices cannot be carried over to other devices. This is mostly because of the software and hardware necessary to use the Adaptive Coverage technology which seamlessly moves between different signals while in a call. However, Republic Wireless’ plans are actually pretty affordable and range from $15 – $60 per month with a 14 day money-back guarantee.
