Zer01 not quite available yet
posted by Joe on July 7th, 2009 - 10:04 am | Prepaid Services
Toward the end of June we saw a marketing push for Zer01, a carrier boasting unlimited voice, text, and data — including smartphone data — for $80 per month with no commitment. If it sounds too good to be true, well, for now it is. Despite a PC Magazine article from March implying that Zer01 is an MVNO of the AT&T network. While Zer01 will use the AT&T network in some fashion, it appears they won’t technically be an MVNO. They still don’t have distribution, so you can’t yet take advantage of their service.
Technically, as they state on their website, Zero01 is an MVNE, which provides service to MVNOs. There’s a sign-up form, and there are whispers that they’re going to announce distributors in the near future, but nothing has popped up yet. So we will continue to wait for this “revolutionary” service to make its way to the public sphere.
I think it’s eminently reasonable to remain skeptical at this point.

Joe. Looks like Zer01 is trying to go its own way despite its initial partnership with Buzzirk Mobile (inventors of 5G wireless technology lol). Makes one wonder if a smaller but established gsm player might see it as a chance to go bigger , like o2 , (if it is indeed what it claims to be).
We ain’t seen nuthin’ yet! And that’s not in a good way!
