Last time I checked, a toddler can't be left alone waiting. The camp can get into big legal issues if they do. And if you think a kid "can handle the responsibility" of having a cell phone, maybe you are the one that can't handle the responsibility of having kids. You can't treat them as adults or even teenagers. And while you can teach them what to dial, as soon as the other kids get a hold of the phone or the kid gets distracted, all those teachings will be forgotten. Your kid might be a wiz and be "responsible", but not all kids are used to have a real one 24-7. That is too much responsibility for a 5-year-old. Besides, if the parents have little to no time to be with kid, why they had her in the first place??? Career comes second when you have a family, or at least that is my point of view...
