Virgin Mobile tops in PC Mag Readers’ Choice survey
posted by Joe on August 1st, 2008 - 7:45 am | Prepaid Services
J.D. Power and his associates don’t have the monopoly on consumer surveys. PC Magazine released their Readers’ Choice survey, so we can take a different look at what everyone thinks of pay as you go cell phone plans. Yes, they have an entire category dedicated to this. So let’s go to the survey:
Last year, Verizon INpulse won the top honors for pay as you go. This year, not so much. The readers apparently don’t like Verizon’s high prices any more. Funny, really, how Verizon dropped their Easy Pay plans and added new pay as you go options between last year and this year, and have their ranking fall in a survey. Are people missing Easy Pay? Seems so.
The overall winner was Virgin Mobile. They upped their rating from 7.5 to 7.8 to take the top spot for pay as you go. Surprisingly, despite poor customer service, Tracfone also saw an improvement in their ranking. Plus, U.S. Cellular, one of our featured providers, took home a Readers’ Choice award for best contract service, sharing honors with Verizon.
