Add Liberty to prepaid unlimited talk services
posted by Joe on July 5th, 2007 - 11:00 am | Prepaid Services
We’ve never hid our love of Cricket and MetroPCS and their flat-rate unlimited talk plans. A huge gripe about prepaid is that it’s so much more expensive than a contract cell plan. But with Metro and Cricket, you can get unlimited talk for about the same price as a glitzy contract plan with AT&T or Verizon. It looks like these companies may be on to something, as Teleplus World Corp., owners of Liberty Wireless, have announced their own unlimited talk plan.
“An all-you-can-eat wireless plan particularly in prepaid is quite unusual. Our wireless brands, specifically Liberty Wireless, cater to a higher ARPU user (Average Revenue Per User) and this plan falls right in line with our customers’ expectations,” stated Marius Silvasan, CEO & Chairman of TelePlus World. “This new plan has created a level of excitement amongst our distributors. We intend to capitalize on that excitement and sign new users,” added Silvasan.
The only hitch we see is that it costs $99.99 per month, which is considerably more expensive than Cricket and Metro. However, those two carriers don’t cover many markets, some of which may be covered by Liberty. In that case, we can see dropping $100 per month, particularly if you’re routinely over your minutes.
Our hope is that Cricket and Metro penetrate more markets, forcing Liberty to lower their price. That, we think, would be wonderful for the prepaid arena.
