Virgin launches LG Flare

There has been much focus over the past few days on Virgin Mobile. They didn’t fare too well in the latter part of 2007, causing their stock to decline. And there was also the matter of an ad capitalizing on the scandal of former New York governor Eliot Spitzer. Lost in that fray was the release of Virgin’s first phone with a Spanish language interface: The LG Flare.

It’s a pretty basic clamshell, with full-color internal and external displays. You can surf the mobile web with it, as well as take advantage of other tried-and-true features, like Bluetooth, voice dialing, and speakerphone. It doesn’t look like the phone will send or receive MMS.

But for $30, can you expect any more? It’s not a terrible phone, and possible a good value at the price. Really, the Spanish language interface is the story here, since it’s the first Virgin phone to have that feature

You can nab it now at Virgin’s website.
