Guess the top 10 mobile phone makers

A bunch of articles circulated this morning regarding the top 10 mobile phone makers in the world. The spin on nearly every one of them: Apple entered the fray at No. 10. This is remarkable, since they have only one handset, and just started selling it in June. But it is the iPhone, and it’s been pretty damn popular so far. But after reading through four or five of these and seeing that they’re for the most part the same, I started to wonder: Where’s the list? They give us an idea of who places where, but no one lists one through 10. So here we go. There will be blanks, but this is how the articles shake it out:

1. Nokia
2. Samsung
3. Motorola
4.
5.
6. Research In Motion
7. ZTE
8.
9.
10. Apple

So who are the other four? Well, I’m going to assume LG is one of them, though it’s tough to assume that they’re No. 4. This blog post suggests that Sony Ericsson is No. 4, and LG Is No. 5.

Eight and nine? Not sure. The world may never know.
