With the massive number of prepaid MVNOs and carrier options, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of it all and even harder to compare and decide which company is the right one for you. So, every once in a while we’re going to go through and do a Face-off of two popular companies, comparing plans and services to help you better decide. Today, we’ll look at Boom Mobile, and Boost Mobile. Both companies run on Sprint’s network, although Boost is owned by Sprint. Boost Mobile offers very simple plans; users can get 2 GB of data and unlimited talk and text for $30 – $35 (depending on if its an individual or family plan) with data top-up available per GB. $50 unlimited data plans are available for both families and individuals. View plan details here.

Boom Mobile – Yes, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint plans all offer unlimited talk and text for $20. All plans also come with 250 MB.

Boost Mobile – Yes, $35 plan also comes with 2 GB of data.

Data Ranges  What is the most and least data available?

Boom Mobile – The prepaid plans range from zero data to 7 GB on one of the Verizon plans. Data add-ons are available.

Boost Mobile – Boost offers 2 GB to unlimited GB, with data add-ons available.

Boom Mobile – Yes, you can activate a compatible unlocked device, although you must purchase a SIM card for $6.99.

Boost Mobile – Yes, sort of. Boost can technically activate a handful of devices, but the majority of phones are not compatible. A SIM card is required. See details here. Most people will have to buy a Boost phone.
