Page Plus raising rate of Unlimited Talk n Text

Page Plus Cellular has fallen under criticism lately. It started in March, when a number of users reported that the company had terminated their accounts, citing an abuse of unlimited services. Page Plus responded a few days later, noting that this is standard practice for MVNOs offering unlimited talk and text plans. It also contained the now-infamous “I’m not in the business of being nice” quote. As if that weren’t enough, word is now that the company will raise the rates of Unlimited TnT starting on May 18th. Once a stellar bargain at $39.95 per month, Page Plus will begin charging $44.95 on the 18th, putting it at the same rate as competitor and fellow Verizon MVNO Straight Talk. There is some upside to the increase, though. First, the $44.95 price tag is the final price, with no additional taxes or fees tacked on. Second, Unlimited TnT will now include MMS. Previously, per the rates page, MMS cost 10 cents per message plus applicable data. That 10 cent fee is now dropped, though data charges will still apply. Remember, though, that the TnT plan comes with 20MB of data. Still, even with the benefits that come along with the rate increase, it seems like a better time than ever to get on Page Plus’s Talk n Text 1200 plan, which provides 1,200 text messages and 1,200 voice minutes for $29.95 per month. Unless you plan to take advantage of the MMS, or else you talk and text a lot, it should provide better value. Page Plus admitted as such in the letter to its dealers. ]]>

Page Plus’s “Unlimited” Talk and text plan has been the best and worst thing that ever happened to this previously virtually unknown company from Ohio.
The last ten months have been a mess of drama with users being kicked off, phones being banned, customer service being unreachable and even dealers getting the shaft.
Page Plus is a large minor league player who tried to play the majors and couldn’t quite cut it.
Sometimes it’s better to be a good small player then a large crummy one.
