Page Plus latest to add app store
posted by Joe on July 27th, 2009 - 8:30 am | Page Plus
It seems everyone in the cellular industry wants an app store. Apple started it with the iPhone, and it caught on so well that others are popping up everywhere. BlackBerry has launched one for its line of smartphones, and Verizon is gearing up for its own. Next on the list is a carrier you might not expect: Page Plus. They just announced their own app store, which is available on BREW-capable Page Plus phones. The best part about that is that you can use your Verizon phone, which is likely to be BREW-compatible, on the Page Plus service.
Because Page Plus typically does not host smartphones, this app store likely won’t be as extensive as those from Apple and BlackBerry, but it’s still a plus for Page Plus customers. They can download ringtones, wallpaper, games, and more. There’s also word in the press release about streaming video.
Page Plus seems to be making a push for more subscribers. In addition to their attractive Talk n Text plans, they recently added texting bundles. We’ve also heard (though it’s unconfirmed) that they will offer new plans starting in August, including an unlimited plan. While many MVNOs crumbled a few years ago, Page Plus has continued to stand out.n
