Page Plus announces new Talk n Text rate plans
posted by Joe on March 31st, 2009 - 10:28 am | Page Plus
With all the talk of unlimited plans, it’s strange to see a carrier offering a new monthly rate plan. The trouble, of course, is bundling texts and minutes in a way that appeals to consumers while coming in below the $50 price point set by Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, and Cricket. The guys at Page Plus Cellular are going to give it a whirl. They’re offering a package dubbed Talk n Text which will offer users 1,500 minutes per month, plus 1,500 text messages, for $39.95. This will provide an alternative to their unlimited plan, which costs $2.49 per day, or about $75 per month.
Of coures, Page Plus’s executives rave about the deal:
“This plan offers an extremely competitive rate for those who use a particularly high amount of airtime and text messages,” said Dean McDowell, Chief Financial Officer of Page Plus. “Users who are currently on another provider’s unlimited plan will find that this is a better alternative for them because they are currently paying more than $39.95, yet using less than 1,500 minutes and 1,500 text messages per month. Today there are a lot of people who fit this usage profile who will save money with this plan.”
That last part of his quote is true for many unlimited calling/texting users. It’s tough to use 1,500 minutes and texts per month, even for heavy talkers. Page Plus is offering a service for heavy users that clocks in $10 cheaper. Plus, you can add WAP and BREW services if that suits your fancy.
The plan launches on April 15, and can be purchased via an airtime card at Page Plus’s website.
