North America Dominates Global LTE

A new report has been released looking at the global LTE market. The report examines each continent and determines how many LTE connections are available on that continent compared to the world. They also checked smartphone penetration and other factors. And, it turns out that if you want 4G speeds, then you should definitely live in North America. The study was conducted by Ovum research, and what they discovered was that North America currently has the most LTE network connections of all the continents in the world. Out of 391 million mobile connections, North America has 33% of them. And as far as LTE, we currently have 45% of all LTE connections worldwide. The next closest is Asia with 36% of worldwide LTE. In fact, the report states that “North American penetration rate for LTE is significantly higher than the rest of the world with almost 36% LTE penetration of the population compared to the next leading world regional market of Western Europe at nearly 8%.” There are currently 49 commercial LTE networks deployed in the U.S. and Canada. So, next time that you are complaining about pockets of 3G mixed in with your 4G speeds (which I have trouble with constantly), just remember that for 4G LTE, you’re living in one of the better continents to have fast mobile speeds.]]>
