Net10 introduces unlimited calling and texting plan
posted by Joe on July 23rd, 2008 - 7:46 am | Net10
Today, we at Prepaid Reviews are recognizing Ian Littman of Go4Prepaid. While we keep you on top of industry news that is changing the face of prepaid, Ian is a guy who knows his phones, and knows where to look to find updates to plans. Today, we’ve got a few plan updates, courtesy of his excellent blog. He’ll also appear on the Prepaid Podcast, which will appear around noon. Onto the big news for right now: Net10 is offering unlimited calling and texting for just $79.98 per month. Yeah, you’re going to have to read on for the details.
View Net10 Unlimited Plans here.
This comes completely out of nowhere. All you have to do is buy a Net10 phone and activate it. You can then go to their unlimited page, and enter your IMEI/Serial Number for enrollment.
However, this might only cover Net10′s GSM areas. From the Go 4 Prepaid forums, which quotes a letter directly from Net10:
NET10 Unlimited is a new plan (scheduled to released later this month)
which will be available for NET10 customers located in GSM AT&T markets
only. This plan allows the customer to use the following features with
unlimited use for one flat monthly fee of $79.98 plus tax (including
any
E-911 tax):* Unlimited local and long distance calling
* Unlimited text messages
* Unlimited data browsing (Data Phones Only)
* 411 calls
Emphasis mine. Clearly, this is something we’re going to look into, as it would greatly affect our feeling for this plan. It appears, though, that Net10 prefers the GSM coverage areas, as they get a better rate than with their CDMA coverage. That would go a long way in explaining the GSM-exclusivity for the unlimited plan.
Of all the companies which have introduced unlimited plans in the past year, this is the cheapest yet, and it covers the most features (other than Sprint, which costs $20 more). Just don’t tell MetroPCS or Cricket that it’s the cheapest overall.

Sorry Lonely girl, can’t be done. Net10 phones can only use Net10 cards and network. No Verizon prepaid cards will work. If that is what you were trying to ask. I’m only half sure.

Wow. Kidding, right? $80 a MONTH?? Straight Talk is, at the most, $45 a month, and it offers the exact same things. I live in a fairly rural area, and Straight Talk service works fine…again, for only $45/month, unlimited everything.

I pay $35.00 a month for my metro phone and I get unlimited talking, unlimited long distance, texting and web. So I think their 80.00 dollar fee is way too high and right now my coverage is all of Florida and part of georgia and alabama. Metros coverage is expanding.
