Scratch Wireless Overview

If you’re looking for a company that does things a little differently, then Scratch Wireless might be a good option. Unlike more traditional MVNOs, Scratch Wireless focuses on WiFi services instead of standard cell phone networking. While connected to WiFi with your Scratch Wireless phone, you will receive free data, text and voice minutes. If you find yourself not connected to Wifi, you can access their network (they are a Sprint MVNO) for voice or data on a pay-per-use basis. Texting is always free, regardless as to whether you are connected to Wifi or not. Data passes are priced at $2 for a 24 hour pass (unlimited data), $15 for a month pass (500 MB) or $25 for a month long pass (unlimited data). Voice passes are set up very similar. For one day, you will pay $2 for unlimited use. For a month long pass, you can pay $7 for 100 minutes or $15 for unlimited voice minutes for a month. The catch with Scratch Wireless is that you have to use their phone, and they only offer one. The Motorola Photon Q is a pretty sweet phone with good mid range specs, an 8 MP camera, Android 4.1, LTE connectivity, etc. The phone normally costs $270, but they are currently running a deal where you can get the phone for $100 (plus taxes). The representative I spoke with wasn’t sure when the promotion would end, unfortunately. I’ve not tried this particular carrier, but it seems like a pretty good deal. If you’ve used them, let me know what you think in the comments!]]>
