Puppy Wireless Adds Data to Plan Lineup

Verizon doesn’t really have all that many MVNOs to keep up with, but one that we don’t write about a whole lot is Puppy Wireless. Owned by Page Plus reseller Kitty Wireless, Puppy is one of the newest Verizon MVNOs and it recently made some pretty significant changes to its plan lineup. Several plans now have more data and the prices of the plans have been upped by a nickel to make things look a lot simpler. The company offers different plans for 3G and 4G speeds. Several of the plans that were initially available at launch have been discontinued, and the plan lineup is a lot easier to understand now. Mostly the changes were positive. I’ve included the actual plan lineup along with what has changed below since the last time we wrote about Puppy. 3G Plans
  • $10 – 60 minutes, 60 texts, 50 MB (was $8, included 50 minutes, 50 texts, 5 MB)
  • $15 – 250 minutes, 250 texts, 200 MB (was 25 MB)
  • $20 – 300 minutes, 300 texts, 400 MB (was 300 MB)
  • $25 – 400 minutes, 400 texts, 500 MB (was 400 MB)
  • $30 – 750 minutes, 750 texts, 1.5 GB (was 1 GB)
  • $30 – 1500 minutes, unlimited texts, 1 GB (was 1200 minutes, 3000 texts, 500 MB)
  • $40 – unlimited minutes and texts, 1.5 GB (was 1 GB)
  • $55 – unlimited minutes and texts, 5 GB (was 3 GB)
4G LTE Plans
  • $10 – 60 minutes, 60 texts, 2.5 MB (was $11, and 50 MB)
  • $15 – 250 minutes, 250 texts, 100 MB (was 50 MB)
  • $20 – 300 minutes, 300 texts, 300 MB
  • $25 – 400 minutes, 400 texts, 400 MB
  • $30 – 750 minutes, 750 texts, 1.5 GB (was 1 GB)
  • $30 – 1500 minutes, unlimited texts, 1 GB (was 1200 minutes, 3000 texts, 500 MB)
  • $40 – unlimited minutes and texts, 1.5 GB (was 1 GB)
  • $55 – unlimited minutes and texts, 5 GB (was 3 GB)

It is worth noting that the $10 4G LTE plan is designed for customers who want LTE speeds, but do not intend to use data outside of wifi. Data cannot be added to the plan, and data overages are not allowed.

Additionally, Puppy has reduced the overage rates for customers who go over minutes unintentionally. Right now, the rates are 4 cents per minute/text/MB. Formerly, the rates were 5 cents, so it’s not that much of a drop. I believe customers can choose to have a balance on their account in order to cover any potential overages in addition to the regular monthly amount. Overages generlaly happen due to lag between usage and actual account changes and is fairly common with MVNOs. Puppy Wireless seems to be one of those companies that you either love or hate. I’ve seen as many bad reviews as I have stellar, so in the end it probably just depends on what you need. As far as rates go, some of Puppy’s plans are very competitive while others are a little less so. Personally, I’ve never had any problems dealing with customer service from Kitty Wireless and Puppy is ran by the same people so I can’t imagine it would be any different. If you’re a Kitty or Puppy Wireless customer, let me know what you think about them in the comments below!
