T-Mobile talking merger with MetroPCS

It seems that something is going to give soon in the wireless industry. Last year we nearly saw a merger between AT&T and T-Mobile, which would have created the largest wireless carrier in the nation by no small margin. Soon after that deal fell apart, we learned that Sprint had nearled acquired MetroPCS. That, of course, fell apart as well. Now we have a new report: Deutsche Telekom, parent company of T-Mobile USA, is in talks to merge with MetroPCS. Deutsche Telekom would own the new venture, but it would be listed publicly; T-Mobile USA is currently not listed on any stock exchange. We’ve heard plenty of these merger rumors before, but have seen little actual movement. It appears T-Mobile is considering other options as well, including an initial public offering, sale, or merger with a larger carrier such as Sprint.
