MetroPCS upgrading some towers to EV-DO

MetroPCS has added plenty of smartphones to its lineup, in an attempt to capture an emerging sector of the market. It’s seemingly worked, as they’ve solidified their place as the No. 5 carrier in America. There is just one issue with these new smartphones, though: they run on Metro’s 1xRTT network, which is considerably slower than the 3G networks that all other carriers, even rival Cricket, operate. That’s one reason why its 4G roll-out has been so important. But now, according to Phil Goldstein of FierceWireless, they’re starting to upgrade their older network. About 20 percent of their current cell sites will get EV-DO, which comes as wonderful news to current MetroPCS smartphone users. That should help tide over MetroPCS customers until the latter part of 2012, when they project they’ll be able to offer cheap LTE Android handsets to their customers. ]]>

    That
    should help tide over MetroPCS
customers until the latter part of 2012,
when they project they’ ll be able to
offer cheap LTE Android handsets to
their customers. What bull. I bought the lg optimus to tide me over. I shoulda bought a modem and uverse. Dont get metro what ever u do. Get virgin. And no im not buying another metro phone ever. To many options now.. Verizon, virgin, cricket.. Metro named the 4g droid indulge. As if indulge in high speed internet. Name one company that does not have high speed internet for all its androids. You cant. All metro does is prey on blacks cause they figure we are not tech savy. But o yeah metro is also holding back 2.3 for lg cause they want us to buy the new phone. Yeah right

Why fcc not all over metro for lying saying they have 3g and dont. Now they are tricking more people saying 20% of towers will get 3g. Yet 100 percent of stores said they had 3g. Now 100 percent will say 3g is coming

with Metro PCS, I have had more problems I thought possible. With the corporate office being less than ten minutes away, I could never understand the ridiculous lack of coverage. I am in disbelief at the amount of dropped and lost calls while residing in an area where range should not be a question. I have had numerous and extensive amount of dropped calls and lost calls. From a morning chat with my boss to a serious discussion with family internationally, or with perspective jobs, etc…. whatever it may be, I live locally and have had a horrific experience with METRO PCS.
I have sent emails made phone calls and ultimately voiced my dissasfaction with METRO PCS. Yet I have received no acknowledgement. I wonder how this business keeps its livelihood. This has been a lesson learned on my behalf. I look forward to getting back to a competent and intelligent cell phone provider that is of a higher standard and stands on its word.

Let me just start off by saying, people HAVE witch hunted companies, for lesser things. What you should realize is, they are not those overpriced coast to coast superpowers. But they are a company that has proved steady growth. I have personaly been with metro pcs for about 7 yr’s, and i can tell you having watched the rate of growth they have made and the fact that they have focused on improving service for existing costomers instead of widespread watered down service, is definately worth the investment! So stop hating and go pay $80+ and i’ll enjoy what i have has been a decent relationship with a company that i can only say has steadily improved for me over the years! 🙂
