MetroPCS offers family plans
posted by Joe on June 9th, 2009 - 7:30 am | MetroPCS
All the sudden, MetroPCS is starting to look like a major cellular provider. What was once a small operation based in Dallas has now turned into one of the most popular carriers in America. Their latest transformation: the addition of family plans. I’m not sure how long this has been around, and I can’t find a press release, but it seems relatively new. You can now add up to four lines on your MetroPCS starting at $20 per line. After the jump we’ll go over exactly how this plan works, plus how it can integrate with other MetroPCS services.
First, you’ll need to purchase all plans regularly. The main account must be of $45 or higher, and the family lines cannot be the $50 plan. Other than that, you can hav your pick of MetroPCS unlimited calling plans.
The first line will be charged as normal. Each additional line, however, will be discounted $10 each. So if the phone is for a child who uses only local calling, you can sign up for the $30 plan, which would be $20 with the family plan. The more attractive plan would be the $40 one, which would be discounted to $30.
Metro recently unveiled GroupLINE, a feature which acts like a landline. You port your main landline number into MetroPCS, and any time someone calls it, all phones in the family ring. It’s just one more way Metro is working to reduce their customers’ overall communications costs. It also integrates perfectly with the family plans.
To sign up for a family plan, visit the MetroPCS website or any MetroPCS retailer. Pick your phones, pick your plans, then call 1-888-863-8768. A customer service representative will combine your lines into a family plan.
