MetroPCS in New Jersey, too
posted by Joe on June 11th, 2008 - 10:00 am | MetroPCS
Over the course of this year, MetroPCS will be rolling out three new markets in the Northeast. These include Boston, Philadelphia, and New York City. It appears, though, that their presence in The Big Apple might extend across the river into New Jersey. The Township of Freehold, birthplace of Bruce Springsteen, will hold a public hearing tonight to discuss Metro’s bid to place antennae on one of its buildings.
Freehold is a bit south in the Garden State, but because it is closer to the coast, it isn’t far from Manhattan the way the bird flies. This means that Metro will reach a bit further than the island, possibly hitting more eastern spots in New Jersey, plus New York state suburbs that border the city.
This will be a truly new option for NY/Metro residents, as there is currently no coverage from Boost Unlimited, Cricket, or Metro. The way New Yorkers talk, they might take to Metro’s flat-rate, unlimited calling plans.

MetroPCS is now available in some parts of New Jersey. Their website does not show detailed coverage, so it is difficult to see how well MetroPCS is in the area. You can find a list of cities that they cover on their website.
