MetroPCS gets E911 service for Northeast AWS markets
A little bit of security news to start your Monday. We all know the importance of E911 and its location based services. All cell phones are required to have technology which allows E911 operatives to locate a handset. So those who plan to sign up for MetroPCS once it enters the Northeast markets of Philadelphia, Boston, and New York can rest assured that they’ll be getting proper E911 services. The company has extended its agreement with TeleCommunications Systems, Inc. to provide E911 to these new markets.
“A significant aspect of this deal is that MetroPCS continues to have the confidence and trust in TCS to provide vital E9-1-1 services to both existing as well as new markets such as Boston, New York City and Philadelphia,” said Dan Allen, Senior Vice President, Service Bureau for TCS. “MetroPCS is an excellent example of the long-term agreements that TCS strives to maintain and we applaud their success as they continue their market expansions.”
TCS is quite popular among wireless carriers, as it provides E911 services to more than 100 million subscribers spread over 35 wireless carriers. This, of course, is nothing but good news for residents of Philly, Boston, and NYC.

They are hiring in Pawtucket RI they must have an office there so RI/SEMA may be part of the Boston rollout.
