Not to to be outdone, Cricket beefs up plans
posted by Joe on August 4th, 2009 - 7:30 am | Cricket
When we learned of MetroPCS improving their service plans, we had to figure that Cricket wouldn’t be far behind. Almost on cue, they announced improvements to their service plans yesterday. These cover Cricket customers in “select markets,” so make sure to check and make sure they’re available to you. And, also not to be outdone, Cricket added new coverage to their roaming markets.
Like Metro, Cricket added features to their $40 monthly plan: unlimited Web, 411, and “service to more than 4,600 cities and towns across the US.” Still unsure about that last part, hence the quotes. Those extra features makes the $40 plan resemble the $45 plan, so to demarcate them Cricket has added unlimited email, unlimited data backup, and 30 roaming minutes per month. The $55 plan was bumped up to 200 roaming minutes.
For their new markets, Cricket announced extended coverage on the East Coast, ranging from New York City to Richmond, Virginia, and in the Southwest, covering parts of Arizona, Southern California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. These roaming markets are available to Cricket’s Premium Extended Coverage, which comes with plans $45 and up.
So if this isn’t a price war…what is it?
