Syracuse man is Cricket’s four millionth customer

Talk about a surprise. Imagine walking into a Cricket wireless dealer, expecting to find a plan and phone that fits your needs. You’ve done your research, and you’re prepared to lay down cold hard cash for the device an service. Imagine then being told that you will receive the phone and the service — plus a broadband modem and broadband service — free for one year. That’s what happened to one Syracuse resident. He went to sign up for a Cricket plan and became their four millionth customer. Congratulations to Jeffrey Sodja, who took home the grand prize.

Simply for being in the right place at the right time, Sodja got a broadband modem and a Motorola ROKR for free, plus a year of Cricket service at no charge. That’s probably around $1,000 in value. Pretty neat. I’m sure the news made Sodja’s year.

Cricket will also make a $1,000 donation to The Francis House, which is Sodja’s charity of choice. There will be a ceremony today for Sodja at 9:30 a.m.

That is very cool! I think carriers should spend more of their marketing dollars on this type of idea which gives back to customers.
