Radio Shack No Contract Wireless to get Muve Music for $50 and $60 plans
posted by Joe on August 28th, 2012 - 9:00 am | Cricket
We have seen plenty of information regarding Radio Shack No Contract Wireless in advance of its launch, which should be announced next week. The last missing piece has been the service plans. These are powered by Cricket, so we could have expected something along the lines of Cricket’s unlimited plans. That’s what the plans will look like. Both smartphone plans will include Muve Music, and they’ll also have plenty of other options for smartphone users.
Both plans include Muve Music plus unlimited minutes, calling features, and messaging. The $60 plan includes unlimited international messaging, while the $50 plan charges 20 cents per message. Another difference: data consumption. The $60 plan offers 2.5GB of 3G data before speed throttling, with a mobile hotspot tethering option. The $50 plan has a 1GB cap and does not allow for tethering. Finally, 411 directory assistance is free with the $60 plan, but $1.50 per call with the $50 plan.
Feature phone customers can get unlimited messaging and mobile web at 1X speeds with any plan. The $25 plan includes 300 anytime minutes, while the $35 plan has 1,000 minutes. Overage minutes are 5 cents each.
What kind of reception will this get? It’s tough for an MVNO these days, but Radio Shack does have a platform. I wouldn’t go predicting big things, but this could be a decent deal, both for them and for Cricket.
