Leap expands Cricket’s coverage in Texas
posted by Joe on May 5th, 2008 - 10:00 am | Cricket
Continuing their aggressive expansion of 2008, Leap Wireless has announced an expansion of their network in Texas. This will bring Cricket wireless coverage to a number of new markets, including Beaumont, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Laredo, and McAllen. The flip switches tomorrow. This adds to Leap’s already wide coverage in the state, which includes Houston, Bryan/College Station, Temple/Kileen, Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso.
“We are delighted to bring affordable, value-rich, unlimited services to more than two million new potential customers in south Texas,” said Doug Hutcheson, president and chief executive officer of Leap. “This is the second market launch in a planned AWS expansion program that is expected to double the size of our company by 2010. Our customer numbers continue to grow as more and more consumers realize the outstanding quality and value that Cricket offers and we look forward to serving customers across the South Texas region.”
So this block in Texas slides in front of Las Vegas as the second AWS market for Leap. Sin City’s switch gets flipped on May 13. The service should be available in the new Texas market at 100 “points of distribution” starting tomorrow.
