Cricket launches in Philadelphia today
posted by Joe on March 10th, 2009 - 8:30 am | Cricket
It’s all about keeping up with the Joneses, right? All the way back in July, MetroPCS expanded their network to the greater Philadelphia area. With new networks in New York and Boston, this gives them a large footprint in the Northeast. Now it’s time for Cricket wireless to present itself to the region. They’ll begin offering services in Philadelphia starting today. The City of Brotherly Love will now have access to Cricket’s unlimited voice and data plans, plus Cricket’s wireless broadband service.
“We are pleased to launch our Cricket service in Philadelphia, which is one of the flagship cities in our build-out of the Eastern Seaboard,” said Doug Hutcheson, president and CEO of Leap. “Philadelphians now have the option for affordable, unlimited wireless services, something that continues to be of increasing importance especially in challenging economic times when value becomes even more important. Our launch in Philadelphia follows last month’s successful launch in Chicago, and is part of our overall plans to expand our Cricket service to even more geographies across the country over the next year.”
The coverage area will include not only the city proper, but also suburbs in South Jersey, including Atlantic City, and Wilmington, Delaware. In total it brings in 6.3 million covered POPs, bringing Cricket’s national total to 83.8 million.
