Good read: Qualcomm ban hurts consumers
posted by Stuart on August 9th, 2007 - 11:30 am | Consumer Issues
We just read a very consumer-minded take on the Qualcomm chip ban and its effects on the US wireless industry. The gist is that it keep us lagging behind Europe in 3G implementation. And even when as it is implemented through Broadcom, the patent owner of the chips in question, the cost will be passed onto consumers because of the licensing costs for the chips. So we’re looking at a costly 3G network. Yay for higher costs!
