Virgin, Koodo top Canadian wireless satisfaction
posted by Joe on November 20th, 2008 - 8:30 am | Canadian Wireless
So apparently J.D. Power and Associates conducts surveys in Canada, too. Who knew? They talked to 15,000 cell users up north to determine find out what they think of their cellular service. When the smoke cleared, Virgin Mobile Canada and newcomer Koodo, a subsidiary of Telus, were the only ones left standing. Though, in a more accurate way, Koodo took home the title for postpaid, standing atop the pack with a 771 rating (out of 1,000), while Virgin took it for prepaid with a score of 731.
The funny part about all this: the Big Three didn’t rank in the top three for customer satisfaction. Hear that, Canadians? If you want some real cell service, it’s time to ditch the oligopolistic regime of Telus, Bell, and Rogers. The smaller carriers are finding inefficiencies in the market, and those inefficiencies apparently benefit consumers.
Also funny: Koodo, as mentioned, is a subsidiary of Telus. So the kid brand is out performing the parent. Good stuff.
In case anyone was wondering, the services were graded on call quality, billing, service plan options, cost of service, and customer service.

Yep. It’s about time Canada got services like Koodo. Now they just need to offer better phones.
This is what Canadians should be getting – demand nothing less: http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/handsets/pay_monthly/all/all
1 year contracts and FREE (well, subsidised) top of the range phones.
I cannot stress the importance for the cell industry to move away from the current oligopoly. I did a rant abut it on my blog a while ago which explains why:
