Rogers unlimited data becomes a reality
Hi there! If you're new to the site, you may want to subscribe to the the feed.
I had my doubts last week when Rogers was rumored to be introducing $20 unlimited data plans which include 2,500 text messages. Well, it appears that skepticism was misguided. That’s exactly what you’ll get now — with 1,000 outgoing MMS messages as a bonus.
Of course, this might not be all great news. I couldn’t find anything by clicking through the Rogers website regarding any restrictions to plan eligibility. However, PhoneMag is saying that the plan doesn’t apply to BlackBerry and Windows Mobile users, as well as those with PC data cards, won’t be eligible for this. The logical speculation is that those plans would cost more.
Word is that Rogers further plans to offer a data-only package, sans the messaging. No pricing is available for that, but you can bet on $10 or $15.
And yes, I’ll acknowledge that this probably paves the way for the iPhone coming to Canada.

iPhone no closer to coming to Canada. Be careful of Rogers Rumours.

Unfortunately this is not true unlimited web browsing. It is limited to WAP sites only and to Rogers cellular phone (i.e. excludes PDAs and smartphones). Regretfully this plan is useless for iPhones.
