Rogers picks up Samsung Blackjack
posted by Joe on January 23rd, 2008 - 11:30 am | Canadian Wireless
They’re calling it simply the Jack, which reminds me of an episode of a long-lost TV show. In any case, it’s the newest smartphone being offered by Rogers. The phone, already popular in the U.S., will feature Windows Mobile 6, with the hope of an upgrade to Version 7 sometime this year.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Blackjack:
The Samsung Jack all-in-one device is designed to provide owners with all of the features commonly found in smartphones today including: the ability to make calls, take pictures, browse websites, listen to music, access Windows messenger, access documents using Windows mobile apps, transfer files from their PC and check their email.
The camera is 2 megapixels. You’ll also get Bluetooth capability and a built-in GPS. The screen measures 320 x 240.
This move moves on the heels of Rogers announcement of more affordable mobile data rates. Though $100 for 5 GB of data might seem steep, it’s an astronomical reduction from Rogers recent rates.
